Wassail Bowl Punch
- 6 small apples
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 5 quarts apple cider
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 cup white sugar
- 4 thin lemon slices
Instructions:
Peel core and slice the apples about 1/4 inch thick. Place the apples
in a shallow greased pan. Sprinkle them with brown sugar. Cover and bake at
325 for 20 minutes. Set the apples aside. Bring the cider to a boil and add
the rest of the ingredients; stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Then add
the apple slices. Pour the hot punch in to a punch bowl that has bin warmed
by pouring hot water in to it. Ladle in to mugs or punch cups. To simplify the serving, put a slice of apple in each mug or cup and
ladled the hot punch over it.
