Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cube butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1 cup cold water
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
FROSTING
- 1 cube butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 box powdered sugar -- (1 pound)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup nuts -- (optional)
Instructions:
CAKE: Sift flour, sugar and soda. Place butter, cocoa and water in small saucepan; bring to a boil and add to dry ingredients.
Ad eggs and mix well. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Bake in 15x11 jelly roll pan for 20 minutes (or 9x13 pan for 35-40 min) at 350 deg. F.
FROSTING: While cake is baking, make frosting. Put butter, cocoa and buttermilk in saucepan; bring to a boil. Pour over 1 box pwd. sugar. Beat until smooth. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour over hot cake right from the oven.
