Chocolate Crackles
Chocolate Crackles
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 cup salad oil
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- approximately 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
Melt chocolate in top of double boiler or in mixing bowl over hot water
(or in microwave). Remove and blend in oil and
sugar. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each additiion. Add
vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and stir into chocolate
mixture. Add nuts and mix thoroughly. Chill dough for several hours or
overnight. Shape into 1" balls and roll in powdered
sugar. Bake on GREASED cookie sheets at 350 for 10 - 12 minutes. The
powdered sugar coating cracks apart, gives and
interesting effect.
Makes 6 dozen.
