Egg Nog Snickerdoodles



Cookie Mixture:
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter - NO SUBSTITUTES
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon brandy extract
  • 3/4 teaspoon rum extract

    Sugar Mixture:
  • 1/2 cup sugar or colored sugar [we use red!]
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg

    Instructions:
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large mixer bowl, combine all cookie ingredients in order given. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well blended. Mix together sugar or colored sugar and nutmeg.

    Now, for that family thing! Mom [or Dad] takes a rounded teaspoon of cookie dough, shapes it in a ball and plops it in the sugar mixture. The children get to roll it around, get it all covered with sugar, and put it on the ungreased cookie sheet [an airbake sheet works best] about 2 inches apart. Bake for about 8 minutes. Don't go on color for these... they will be very light, even when done. Cool and ENJOY! Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
