Caramel Dumplings
Dumplings:
- 1 1/4 cups self-rising flour
- 1 oz. butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup milk
Sauce:
- 1 oz. butter
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
Instructions:
Dumplings:
Mix flour and butter until coarsely mixed. Add sugar, milk, and
vanilla; stir well. Set aside.
Sauce:
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir constantly until
boiling. Reduce heat. Drop tablespoons of dumpling dough into
simmering sauce. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve warm
with whipped cream or ice cream.
