Chocolate Walnut Pie
- 3/4 cup Brown Sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
- 2 large Eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 cup Walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1, 9-inch Pie Pastry, baked
Spiced Cream Topping Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Whipping Cream, chilled
- 1 Tablespoon Confectioners' Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground Nutmeg
Instructions:
Pre-heat oven to 350-F degrees.
Stir together the brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a large bowl. Add the eggs and stir until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
Pour the pie filling to the baked pie crust.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned and set.
To prepare the spiced cream topping, blend together the whipping cream, confectioners' sugar, vanilla, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg until stiff peaks form.
Serve a generous portion of the spiced cream on top of each piece of pie.
Serves 6 to 8
Tip: The pie is best served slightly warm or at room
temperature topped with the cold spiced cream. Just set the pie on top of the oven while dinner is served and it should be perfect by the time the meal has ended.
