Remus' Poky Flat
For Sean
I moved the fridge on the wall by the stove and sink, and added an entrance near Harry's room so he can sneak in there to get water the first night. From Ch 11, I think it sounds like the appliances are all on one wall with the table behind them.
Since Remus can charm anything he doesn't like, I aimed not so much for shabby as plain and drab - you'll see there's a lot of monochrome and washed-out colors. Sorta aiming to reflect how lacking R's life was before he got Sirius and Harry. As your story progresses, you may want to liven up the colors, maybe replace a few pieces of furniture (for instance, making the bookcases match actually pulls the flat together a lot more).
The exception is Harry's room, which I imagine Sirius decked out with enthusiasm. Things here are brighter, more expensive, less about making do and more about enjoying the space. 2 things: I'm not happy with the bedspread but didn't have a better kid one; and I haven't looked for a glowing robot, but I'm sure there's one out there.
Pups' bedroom. I'm pretty sure this is consistant with how it's described, though it makes the room narrower than I imagine it (because Sim furniture is awkward). I wanted to use that stupid tile behind each bed, so there's Remus' dark magic books behind his bed and a pile of clothes behind Sirius'. Again, the colors are a bit brighter, the window treatments more generous, because I imagine Sirius made some adjustments to make the place "livable" according to his standards. :)
The bathroom door connects to the pups' room, not the living room. It's awkward but I think accurate to the descrip, and your sims won't care anyway. There's a closet in the bathroom (mostly to make the bathroom look like less of an alley - you could expand it another tile if you wanted.)
Remus likes red and brown, so you see those colors a lot in the living room. In the big Chap 12 convo, I always imagined Sirius sitting sideways on the couch with his back to the kitchen, and Remus of course at the desk. So they're sort of turned away from each other, sort of not.
Do you have cracked plaster wallpaper, or want to recolor just one cell? Remus tucks a piece of parchment into a crack in the wall by his desk, which would indicate there's probably more cracks elsewhere. Also, you could prolly easily do a wallpaper for NOMOS over the door.
Older pic, but view into Harry's room. Please say you'll replace that squat bookcase with something equally mismatched. It really changed the flat for the better when I mismatched the bookcases.
The bike shed under Harry's room that cuts into the neighbor's flat. I love the disgusting door, don't you dare change it.
Details
Detrius bowl, hair potions, cologne (or it'll look that way from far away).
Mask for Sam. You can prolly do a good 'frogs and dogs' Harry drawing, if you don't want this one.
Behind the stairs, next to the kitchen. Plants on the little ledge outside.
I'll let you know if that guy gets back to me about a recolored snake, or if you're *really* dedicated, you can get a pay membership at The Sims Resource and download the blue one.
Stuff I Deleted in Your Version
(but I still have, if you need anything)
Similar apartment (with more brickwork) to the right, warehouse behind. Both two storeys with concrete trim on the roof. It'd be awesome if you had a big industrial A/C unit, or an exhaust thingy. The trailer trash pack from MTS2 has good disgusting warehousey walls. You'll prolly want to fix the grass yourself, I'm not very good at it.
I put some randomly colored walls inside the warehouse so it doesn't look hollow. The floors and inside the perimeter walls were black so the light just kinda goes there to die. I put the double square windows (third on the list, kinda Chinese looking) all down the front, one in each tile. Didn't bother with the back.
I took out the windows and the tile floors inside the downstairs apartment. You may want to add stuff for yard and street shots. The only problem w/ these is that if you do walls-cut-away in the apt, you see the inside of these buildings. Maybe if you really densely packed the walls inside, like a honeycomb? I dunno.
