02/18--I"ll be putting up my final predictions eithers today or tomorrow on
THE BLOG.

02/18--The
Costume Designer Guild gave out their awards: awards The Duchess the
Period Film award, Slumdog Millionaire the Contemporary award, and The
Dark Knight for Fantasy Film. There goes Slumdog will another award, and this
also places The Duchess as the front-runner for the Best Costume Design Oscar.

02/16--Slumdog has continued to steamroll it's way throught the awards seasons, and has
amazingly picked up even more speed to the finish in the last week! We had 4
different guilds announcing their winners, with Slumdog taking a win every time
it was nominated. Here's how this year's guilds played out. Kinda ridiculous in
my opinion. Slumdog is a fantasic film, but it seems like it's the only movie that
           came out this year now!

           ACE (American Cinema Editors) =
Slumdog Millionaire & Wall-E
ASC (American Society of Cinematographers) =
Slumdog Millionaire
           ADG (Art Directors Guild) =
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark
                                                      Knight, Wall-E

           CAS (Cinema Audio Society) =
Slumdog Millionaire

02/08--We also have the
BAFTA winners today! And as expected....Slumdog Millionaire
takes home yet another Best Picture prize on its win to dominating the Oscars
this year. It took home 7 total awards. And if the 4 acting winners of Mickey
Rourke, Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger, and Penelope Cruz match up at the Oscars,
I wouldn't be a bit surprised or upset. All deserving of their wins.

02/08--We now have our frontrunners in the screenplay categories, as the
Writers Guild
announced their winners yesterday. I don't think that Slumdog taking Adapted
is a surprise to anyone, but now Milk has gotten a big leading push for Original.
Also, congratulations to Ari Folman, who won the Documentary category for
Waltz With Bashir, which gives him prizes from both the WGA & the DGA.

02/05--The
London Film Critics announced their winners. Widespread love for The
Wrestler, The Curious Case, Slumdog, and Hunger.

01/31--The USC Scripter gave their award to Slumdog Millionaire this year. No big
           surprise there.

           However, a riduculously
HUGE surprise at the Annie Awards. Wall-E went
home completely shut out as Kung Fu Panda won EVERY SINGLE AWARD
IT WAS NOMINATED FOR, INCLUDING BEST ANIMATED FEATURE!
           Two words...Holy...Crap...

01/27--We have the final precursor update, which every year happens to be the only
guild that announces their nominees AFTER the Oscar nominees are already
           announced, the
MOTION PICTURE SOUND EDITORS.

Also, I've updated all the categories to reflect the actual nominees instead of my
predictions. I will doing commentary and analyzing the nominees over on the
blog over the next few days.

01/21--ANNOUNCING THE CREATION OF THE OSCAR BEACHHOUSE BLOG!
Since I find editing the pages of geocities to be a bit on the laborous side, I have
finally broken down and have done what everyone else in the world has...created
a blog. Now this doesn't mean that this site is going anywhere. I will still be
updating and maintaining as much as possibly, but the "Daily updates" and most
of my everyday film viewings, reviews, and thoughts, will now be done mostly,
albeit not completely, on the blog. For the first blog entry...my complete list of
2008 Final Predictions. Check it out! Click on the link below to go there.

THE OSCAR BEACHHOUSE BLOG

01/20--The nominees for my
PERSONAL AWARDS 2008 are officially complete. I
always try to throw in a few that I genuinely believed deserve the praise but I
know have no chance of actually getting it. Also, my
TOP TEN OF 2008 has
also been updated! Check out the films that I deemed worthy.

01/19--The ONLINE FILM CRITICS have announced their winners, and for Best
Picture, they went with...WALL-E!!! The robot also picked up the Original
Screenplay and Animated Feature awards. However, both The Dark Knight and
Let the Right One In scored more total wins, with 4 apiece. Let the Right One In
took home Best Breakthrough Filmmaker, Best Breakthrough Performance, Best
Adapted Screeplay, and Best Foreign Language Film. The Dark Knight took
home awards for Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Supporting
Actor (Heath Ledger), and Best Director. Congrats to all!
