Tips, hints and quests
Do not feed these animals!
Most beasts that you will encounter outside of the dungeons at least are quite placid and only attack if you attack first. There are some, however, that are rather aggressive and will attack you on sight. There are:
- Wolverines in the Siroccan Mountains. They are very quick so be on your toes when travelling throught the Siroccans and don't even think of going AFK.
- Mountain Lions in the Western Vashnars. The best reason to fly to the Aalen. Usually, you will see them move in for the kill first, and you have ample time to get away.
- Maneating Sharks. Yikes! Found in the ocean near Tasur'ke.
- Basilisks. There are two Basilisk lairs in the Aalen, which Perseon helpfully marked on his Achaea overland maps. Basilisks paralyze you with their gaze.
- Mountain grizzlies in the Southern Vashnars. No info excep that they're nasty.
How to get to Kamleikan?
There is no other way to go to Kamleikan or Aran'riod except through the Wilderness map. You could enter the wilderness map at the north of the Northreach Forest.
What to do in Kamleikan?
You could bash penguins, snow hares and reindeer. There is a shrine to Pandora in the centre if you're like me and you don't like littering Nature. Also, there is a tailor in Kamleikan who could make blankets if only he had snow hares, and a little baby who would be warm if only he had a blanket...
I killed a skunk. I stink. Now what?
Scrub yourself! Dive into the water - there is one water area in the Siroccan mountains, and scrub until you are Mr. Clean again.
Pearl Diving!
In some areas, the ocean near Tasur'ke and the Peshwar Delta, you can find pearl-containing oyster shells. Before checking the shells for pearls, you will have to evict the inhabitant first. Oysters are somewhat tougher to bash than rats. Be wary, however, that there are maneating sharks about in the ocean near Tasur'ke.
Tired of Ratting? Do Quests!
- Shaastan spear quest: There is a Shaastan carved spear in the Sultan's quarters in the palace of Shallam. Take it, and go to the village of Shaastan. Everybody in Shaastan needs something: the woman needs food, the fisherman needs vines, the chieftain wants his plaque back and the old guard wants his spear. Giving it to him is step No. 1.
- Hemp Quest: There may be a harvested hemp plant in the Chamber of Peace in Oneiros' temple east of Shaastan. Take it and give it to the ropemaker in Thera. Give the rope to the Blacksmith in Thera.
- Ivory Hairbrush Quest: Cammilla in Shallam keeps losing her hairbrush on the Raphaelan highway near Delos and keeps on wailing about it in Ishtar park instead of fetching it herself.
- Beggar Quest: A Beggar near Niniveh park in Shallam is cold. Instead of buying him some new and classy clothes at Zanzibaar, you may find some worthless tatters nearby, in the park, which are more suitable to unemployed bums like him. Giving the clothes to him, he may or may not give you a stone that he himself doesn't appreciate the value of. DeBurr, the jeweller on Darius street, does.
- Orphan quest: Find candles in the Basilica in Shallam, west and south of the Antechamber. Take a few and go out looking for orphaned kids around the city. When you find one, give it the candle and it will step in line following you about. Find some more. Eventually, lead them back to the choir chamber in the Basilica and enroll them. Your alignment will tilt towards the "good" side. A similar quest can be done in Ashtan with opposite results for your alignment. You'll find out why.
- Tomacula Spear Quest: A wooden Tomacula spear may be found near the Lupine shrine at the southern promontory at the shore of Lake Vundamere. Take it and give it back to its rightful owner. Now, where would he be? Tomacula, maybe?
- Skull Quest: Near the crater in the Savannah, south of the river, a rune-covered jaguar skull may be found. The shaman in the Tomacula village, Elegnem, will pay gold for having it back.
- Etarni Fox Quest: Etarni, the valiant Tomacula hunter, should be out there hunting for foxes instead of messing around with his girlfriend Innej. However, you could do it for him, and he will pay you for every dead fox you give to him, both Desert Foxes and Red Foxes, which are slightly tougher and can be found in the Aalen.
