At the beginning of the school year, the children started out their journals by drawing pictures and dictating their story to me.
I would write the words for them in English and then in Spanish. They later started to copy Spanish words from the wordwall
and from our books.
Now, the children copy a starter sentence such as "I see a______." or "I have a ________." and then
look for words around the room to fill in the space on their own. They then draw a picture related to their
sentences and when they are finished, they come to read them to me. I can see that they have learned
a lot of Spanish vocabulary since the beginning of the year!

Al principio del año escolar, los niños comenzaron sus diarios con dibujos. Me dictaban sus cuentos y yo escribía sus palabras
en inglés y en español. Después comenzaron a copiar palabras en español de la pared de palabras y de los libros.
Ahora, los niños copian una oración como, "Yo veo un_________." ó "Yo tengo un ________." y luego buscan
palabras en el salón para llenar el espacio. Luego hacen un dibujo que se relaciona con sus oraciones y cuando terminan,
vienen conmigo y me los leen. ¡Veo que han aprendido mucho vocabulario en español desde el principio del año!
