One of my favorites! A good companion to the
opposite in theme albums, Darlin' Darlin'! |

Taken from the Back Cover:
"Dear D.A.C. Fans -
Thank you for your support during my recent
emotional divorce. A Special thanks to Connie nelson for babysitting me
through it all, to Willie Nelson for making me want to go on, to Kris Kristofferson
for his undying love and respect of me and my music, to Billy Sherill for
believing enough to make another record with me, to Jim Carlson for raising
his voice at me, for good reasons, to Joel Katz for the midnight phone
calls, to Tanya Tucker for the 4 o'clock in the morning wake up calls,
to Ralph Emery for the TV show, to Taffy Davis for the Male Vocalist of
the Year award in England.
I'm starting over. I've got a new band
and we'll be playing more country music now (old-time bluegrass) and just
good-time music. I've worked at it long enough now from here on out
it's got to be fun. I'm tired of my head turning upside down till
I don't know the down side from the up side. Anyway, thanks again for taking
The Ride.
I'd also like to thank all the radio stations
for playing my records this year. You've been wonderful!
Musically yours,
David
Allan Coe
P.S. Address all fan mail to:
Ruskin Cave (He no longer lives there!)"
"You
write it, I'll read it."

Liner Notes:
"It doesn't matter where you are or what kind
of music you're listening to - the elaborate orchestration of 'Mona
Lisa' heard in a gondola in Southern France; or the sweet mountain
bluegrass sound of banjo, mandolin, and guitars with no drums on 'Sweet
Angeline;' to the sweeter country sounds of 'He's Taking It Hard
(She's Taking It Easy)' heard on The Nashville Network television show
by a guy that looks a lot like me except for the broken heart he was carrying
around at the time trying to finish a song called 'For Lovers Only.'
Running himself crazy, from bar to bar, looking
for anyone or anything to help him.
Finally winding up in a motel room in Nashville
listening to John McEuen play a 'Banjo Interlude' and thinking even
classical music sounds depressing sometimes. And reality setting
in at ten minutes till four a.m., staring from the 6th floor of the Spence
Manor Hotel looking down at once was 16th Avenue South, wondering where
do I go from here???
Finding a 'Thief In My Bedroom'
someone who will lead me into the future; someone who can make me believe
that I don't have to live on the DOWN SIDE." |

Liner Notes, Part II:
"Some people are happy to be getting a divorce!
I wasn't one of those people!
Nevertheless, as the days turned into months,
I found that it was different starting over. And when you're 'Just Divorced'
there's a certain attitude about you. There's a tremendous new
interest in yourself as a person. Are you overweight? Should you change
the clothes you're wearing?
Then you realize 'Its Great To Be Single
Again' even though there's gonna be another 'Blue Grass Morning'
in your life. And you'll know its time to be 'Goin Home' because
even though you're alone now, it's back to just you and the music.
With me, I always get back to that! Just me and the music.
In fact, I think I'll play one of my favorite songs from the 50's right
now. Yep! There it is. 'For Your Precious Love.'
That ought to put me back on the UP SIDE." |
