Ellen Irlene Mandrell born on January 29th is the youngest of the Mandrell Trio. Having the Mandrell name you would expect Irlene to be a musical wizard.....She is. The drums, vibes and autoharp become clay in her hands in which she molds to whatever style she chooses with ease. But what makes Irlene so unique is: Her path led in a different direction than her musical siblings. Irlene's career choices were that of modeling and acting and somewhere along the line comedy fell in.  In 1979 she was the postergirl for Cover Girl shoes and has lent her radiant beauty to other promotional works. Irlene's testimony was being used to promote a national line of facial products.  If Irlene's beauty comes in a bottle sign me up.

Currently,Irlene is the national spokesperson for the National Wild Turkey Federation's- Women in the Outdoors program. The purpose of the program encourages women, especially single mothers, to take advantage of free programs and events in their local areas, where they gain experience and appreciation for the outdoors. Events include hikes, climbing, archery, canoing, etc. The concern of NWTF and Irlene is: Due to the rise of single parent families, the future of the american outdoors tradition may suffer if the things "traditionally" left up to the father do not get passed on to today's children. The most ironic thing about Irlene is, the stereotype she has been given, that of the pretty dumb girl, which is contrary to the fact that comedy is one of the hardest mediums to master. To make a stranger laugh has to be one of the hardest accomplishments to do. Irlene has definetly racked up her share of laughs. Remember the operator skit on Hee-Haw? Just hilarious! Which brings to point:  After the Mandrell tv series, Irlene went on to become a regular on Hee Haw and has made several television appearances such as: the Tonight Show, Today Show, Bright Lights & Country Nights, Oprah, This Week in Country Music and the list goes on.

One thing she has in common with her sisters is her responsibility for the world around her. She is involved in such charities as: Easter Seals, Special Olympics, American Heart Association & the Humane Society.

Irlene is married and has 3 children Deric, Vanessa & Christina. Not only does Irlene love her family tremendously, she also loves all God's creatures, especially Maltese puppies.
