The Future of Florida's Water Resources

What does the future hold for Florida's water supplies?  This is a question that is often pondered, but the answer is relatively simple.  If we use and protect our resources wisely they will last forever, however if we ignore the risks of pollution and overuse the resources will run out.

So what are some steps needed to be taken towards the future?

We need to be good stewards of our water supplies, and manage them wisely to ensure their availability for generations to come.
Stricter testing of water is needed, currently Florida utilities only test for 66 out of over 75,000 potentially harmful chemicals found in water supplies nation wide.
We must stop injecting contaminated water into Aquifers in an attempt to stretch our limited supplies.
Water levels that had dropped so far during the drought around 2000-2001 will occur again in the future, so we need to learn to conserve now for future shortages.

If we can do these things our precious groundwater resources ought to meet our needs for centuries.
