{Nate here}Well we have so far spent two days lounging in fiji's main isle Viti Levu. The town, Nadi is a thriving second world city with all the hustling of any large tourist place in a struggling economy. Any time we walk into a shop, there is someone trying to help you and of course offering rates...."for you, my friend, I give a special price". Its very neat. Things are cheap and the lifestyle is very laid back. Our most busy times have involved the task of going into town to buy sandals, and hurrying to the beach to catch sunset yesterday.
[Jill] We were very fortunate that the place we booked in advance, the Beachside Resort, turned out to even nicer than we expected. They let us set up the tent on the grounds when we arrived at 3am (after a GRUELING 24hrs of flight and airport time) so we wouldn't have to pay the F$60 for 7 hours in a room. Lots of palms and hibiscus around, a comfy bed and great shower, and quite a steal at only F$40 (20 USD) a night!
We are hopefully heading to the
Octopus Resort
--resort is a term that is used rather loosely around here--in the Yasawa island group tomorrow for awhile. Much snorkeling, diving, and even hiking to be done. And it is a bit away from the tourist area here in Nadi.
We won't likely post any pics until we get to Sydney, due to the high cost and low availability of internet services here. Stay tuned for more...
