Soul Blazer is an old RPG developed by Enix that is extremely overlooked, but with games like Zelda: A Link to the Past out, it was bound to be overlooked. It is one of the most underrated RPG's ever, though most RPG's get overlooked in the shadow of Square and Final Fantasy.

Story: The story is a little bit weird. Basically, you are this character that is sent by some sort of God-like being to rescue people on this world. I can assume that most of these people have had their souls stolen. As you free people, you gain more information and can progress with the game, et cetera. Then you move from world to world, like most old RPG's implement. Not great, but not horrible. 15/20

Graphics: The graphics are a bit of a problem for this game. Yes, I know that it is an old game, but they aren't great even by SNES standards. Square always was the master of visuals. Things are a little blurry, but it really doesn't detract from the fun of the game, so they dont end up being that horrible. 14/20

Sound: The sound in this game wasn't good at all. From what I remember, the sound is mostly just some average little tunes in the underworld things and some decent sound effects. Again, it doesn't make the game any worse, though. 12/20

Gameplay: This is where the game starts to pick up, and it's in the best category possible for a game to pick up. The game plays like Zelda, with some cool twists such as walking through dreams. The spell system also separates it from Zelda. Sometimes, the game can be fairly challenging, which is a good thing. There are, from what I remember, six or seven different worlds with all kinds of secret things to unlock in them in order to get cool weapons, armor, or magic. The control is pretty good, too. Overall very nice gameplay. 19/20

Fun: Overlooked RPG's are almost always fun. This game is no different. It's got an original concept, and a cool battle system. Just reread the gameplay section and you'll have the information for the fun section. Try this game, and you'll find out what I mean. I can guarantee it. The only problem with this is the repetition that is usually found in old RPG's. 18/20

FINAL SCORE: 78/100
