Super Smash Brothers is one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. It is a fighting game, but it has the feel of something different. Even if you hate most fighting games (like me) you’ll almost definitely love this game.

Concept: You can control one of 12 Nintendo characters to fight on one of the many Nintendoish levels. Some of the favorite characters are Mario (naturally), Fox (from StarFox), Link (from Zelda), Samus (from Metroid), and Kirby. The stages also range in variety, from Hyrule Castle to Starfox’s ship in Sector Z to the top of the Celadon City department store. The game includes 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 2, and free-for-all multiplayer fighting in addition to the single player game. 18/20

Graphics: Again, the is an N64 game, but the graphics are decent. An annoying thing is that the larger levels, (Starfox’s ship, Hyrule Castle, and Mushroom Kindgdom) often times the characters will get really small and hard to see. There can also be confusion between characters, especially between Captain Falcon (F Zero) and Link or 2 of the same characters. However, overall its pretty good. 15/20

Sound: The game really shines here. It has great sound effects for all the characters and items, and the music for each stage is taken directly from the game itself. You actually notice the sound in this game, it stands out. If you complete certain requirements, you can activate the sound test, which is also pretty cool. 20/20

Gameplay: The controls aren’t too bad for a fighting game, but they can take a little getting used to. The jump is using the C-buttons, which I don’t find annoying, but many people do. Also, when trying to use the Up and B combo, it will sometimes register as Diagonal and B instead, which can kill you. The controls are overall pretty good. 18/20

Fun: The most important part of a game, Super Smash Brothers could be the most fun game I’ve ever played. It has an infinite replay value due to its multiplayer fighting, which is its best option. Also, with so many different characters and so many different levels, there are numerous combinations for play. 20/20

FINAL SCORE: 91/100
