Why not go ahead and call for people not to vote for Bush or Gore?  It's high time that we stopped trying to choose the better of two evils because, in doing that, we're still voting for evil.  There is a candidate who often echoes many of our Southern beliefs and he also had the nerve to make a statement for Southern heritage and against George Bush's anti-Confederate actions.  Doesn't he deserve our support? "Go Pat Go."  Web Link  Thanks for taking the time to research these offending contributors to the NAACP.  By the way, the NAACP likes to link itself to MLK and I'm sure that is one reason for the many contributions it receives.  However, according to the civil trial transcript on the King Center web site, MLK was murdered because he was protesting the Vietnam War (because of the death of Vietnamese civilians) and he intended to lead a massive long-term protest in Washington until Congress did something to help poor people - not just minorities.  If he had been alive recently, he might have been protesting the bombing of Yugoslavia or the loss of factory jobs in America or the new slave labor that global corporations are using to make their fortunes or the genocide in Africa, but one cannot imagine that this man who had won a prize for peace would then create strife by attacking fellow Southerners about the Confederacy - an action which gains nothing for anybody.  It is important that contributors realize that this NAACP idiocy is not an extension of the old civil rights movement: it is a flexing of the power of one ethnic group over another.

Thank you so much for your "Boycotting the Boycotters" website.  It is very convenient to have a list of all those we need to boycott.  We have been in a "hands-tied" situation regarding boycotting Bellsouth though.  That is, we have had no choice but to use them UNTIL NOW! Last week I discovered a company that provides local telephone service (deregulation means Bellsouth has to wholesale the local service to them and they resell it.  So your service is still coming from Bellsouth, but their profits are greatly reduced.  And you save 5% to 40% on your local service, too.  That was icing on the cake.)  I switched, needless to say, and used your link to Bellsouth to email them that I had switched because of their support of the racist organisation the NAACP.  What a great feeling that was!

If you'd like info on switching from Bellsouth, email me at hoytb@skybiz.com

I have contacted, via email, all of the companies listed and told them their services will no longer be used or that I have switched my accounts to providers that support equality among all people.  If the NAACP really cared about the people it purports to represent they would spend their time promoting family values, fighting drug abuse, increasing literacy and education, lowering teenage pregnancy rates and instilling a solid work ethic.  These are the principles they should build their foundation on instead of trying to destroy a heritage that includes many black people as well.

You can post my message and my email address.  It's a shame that the people and values upon which our country was built are now the subject of vilification.  Hard work and self reliance made this country great.  Now the powers that be seem to think the gov't is the only entity that can accomplish what individuals of all races and ethnic groups have built Over the last 225 years.  May God have mercy on us all.
