INTRODUCTION


Until 1970, the tallest building in New York City topped at 102 floors - 1252 feet/381 meters high.  It was the tallest building in the world when it was completed in 1931. The Empire State Building was built in just 16 months.  It is most famous for the giant gorilla who scaled its heights and plunged to its death in the classic movie, King Kong in 1933.

The Port of New York/New Jersey is the largest port complex on the East Coast of North America and is located at the hub of the most concentrated and affluent consumer market in the world.  In 1921, the Port Authority of New York and NewJersey, a bi-state agency formed to promote trade and commerce in the entire port region and directly oversee the operation of the seven cargo terminals in the New York/NewJersey region.

The World Trade Center Twin Towers was a complex of 7 buildings on 16 acres, constructed and operated by the Port Authority of the New York and New Jersey. (PANNYNJ). The towers 1 and 2 World Trade Center climbed more than 100 feet higher than the Empire State Building.

Hopefully, you will see the magnificence of three of New York, and the world's buildings.  Wasn't it ironic about Minora Yamasaki, the builder of the World Trade Center? At this time, after a brief discussion of your findings, you will write down the significant factors you remember about the Empire State Building,  Port Authority and the World Trade Center with a four sentence paragraph of your reaction to the collapse of the World Trader Center Twin Towers.
