"Primaballerina" - Siw Malmkvist
The German Final was held on February 22nd at TV Studios in Frankfurt, hosted by Marie-Louise Steinbauer. The winning song was chosen by a jury of 11 people. They firstly voted for their favourite song by each of the 3 artists, and then the best song by each artist was voted on again to decide the winner. It is rumoured that popular 60's singer Alexandra was due to be the 4th artist in the German Final, but she died shortly before it was held.

Siw Malmkvist had already represented Sweden in 1960 (even though she didn't even take part in the 1960 Swedish Final). She also won the 1959 and 1961 Swedish Finals, but didn't get to go to the Eurovision as she was replaced by other singers. Siw also came 2nd in the 1962 German Final. At the Eurovision she was equal 9th.
