The Israeli Final was held on March 27th at the IBA Studios in Jerusalem, hosted by Rivka Michaeli. All 4 songs were sung by Yardena Arazi, and the winner was chosen by the votes of 4 regional juries.

Yardena Arazi previously represented Israel in 1976 as a member of the group Chocolate Menta Mastik. She also participated in the Israeli finals of 1982 (2nd), 1983 (2nd) and 1985 (3rd). At the ESC she came 7th.
