The Finnish Final was held on March 6th at the YLE TV-Studios in Helsinki, hosted by Ari Korvola. The winner was chosen by the votes of 11 regional juries.

Katri Helena previously represented Finland in ESC 1979. She also took part in the Finnish finals of 1969 (2nd), 1972 (2nd) & 1978 (2nd). At the ESC she came 17th.
