Virginie Pouchin
The French Final was held at La Plaine St-Denis TV Studios in Paris on March 14th, hosted by Michel Drucker & Claudy Siar. The final was the culmination of a 'Pop Idol' type show, solely to select the singer to represent France in the ESC. The song that the winner was intended to sing at the ESC - "Nous, c'est vous" was considered unsuitable for Virginie and therefore she sang another song at the ESC - "Il était temps". The winner was chosen by televoting (50%) and an "expert jury" (50%) in two rounds - the first to select the top 3 and the second to select the winner. The "expert jury" included Lara Fabian (Luxembourg 1988) & Natasha St-Pier (France 2001).
