Bitter Rose
by

She awakened in a tub,
Not knowing where she was-
Floating around her body were
The fragrant soothing petals of
A hand picked crimson rose.

She stood up from the water,
That was warm and chilling fast-
The water that streamed down
Picked out gooseflesh on her arms
And traced them down her spine.

She looked around and gasped
On her left stood a man
Smiling and pale.

She extended one hand,
As he offered his own-
And kissed with trembling lips
A taste of sweetness no unforbid
A fruit of pure temptation.

She turned her head
To one exposed side
As his mouth moved to her neck.

She squeezed his hand
As he bit in-
The blood began to flow
Miniture streams travling south
Weaving among the shattered rose.

She sighed a breath,
Of warm sweet air-
The sigh that was her last
Joining him upon the night
With sweetness everywhere.

She tasted fruit,
And lives by night-
With roses and innocent blood
As twilight dances in the sky
She bathes in bitter tears.
