December Rose

I'd love to be kissed
By a December rose;
Icicles clinging to the leaves-
Cold as the day
My father left me.

I'd love to be touched
By a July snowflake;
No heat could harm
Its delicate features-
Warm as the sun.

I'd love to be held
By a spring pumpkin;
Early as the fawn-
Wobbling on its legs,
Orange as the lilys.

I'd love to be engaged
To an Autumn daffodil;
Centered by the trees-
With brightly colored leaves,
Late as the day I could smile again.
