The Surface of The Sea

She looked around herself, there was water, she was somehow standing right on top of it. The water was completely still, no wind and no life moved it, not even a small ripple. She looked behind her some, there was a grassy shore with a lot of trees, she could hear birds singing, crickets chriping, and the sounds of animals playing, but
everything looked still. She had no idea how she got on top of the water, she was a good fifteen feet from the shore, but the water showed no signs of her movement. The sky was a grey-blue and there were many clouds above, she couldn't see the sun, but knew it was there. One drop fell from a cloud high above, the light caused it to shine bright momentarily as it traveled down in front of her. It hit the top
of the water and it began to ripple out in small circles that got bigger, wider, and spread out all around her. Suddenly she sensed a stirring in the water below, as she was looking down at it's surface.  Suddenly the water began to churn and bubble up some, as something pushed up from below. A sudden breeze caused her hair to blow in front of her face a moment, loose strands of blonde that floated around her.
A large light sky blue dragons head emerged from the water, large black eyes blinking rapidly twice, there were ice blue fin like structures on it's head and ice blue cat fish like whiskers above its mouth. She stared at it, unflinching and not frightened, it looked at her as she studdied it. The dragon allowed a great part of its body to show now, it was serpant like. For the most part the body was a light
sky blue, but it had sea foam colors and lilac along its sides, and an ice blue underside, dark blue tipped fins here and there.  The dragons head was half as tall as she was, but she still was unafraid, even when it opened its mouth and produced an almost eerie, low, mournful under sea sound, that was almost sort of romantic. A skin like substance covered its eyes twice quickly as though it were blinking again, the creature opened its mouth, wide, showing large sharp teeth and a pinkish long forked tongue. It blew beath upon her and incased her within a large shell of ice, large enough she could take two steps in either direction and just reach the top with the flat of her upraised hands. The dragon made another sound and the ice began to sink below the waters surface, the woman inside, looking around her, touching the sides of her prison. She realized she was not struggling for air, and
she was not overly cold, however she was sporting goosebumps, and realized she was not wearing any clothes at all, yet did not feel ashamed.

The chunk of ice was carried by the dragon with two arms that sported claws, eventually it picked spot and set her on the sandy floor of the body of water she had been on, they had passed many sea creatures, some in which she had never seen before. She turned to face the dragon, it swam away from her some and began swimming in graceful and beautiful patterns, spinning circles and twisting its long body from time to time, she noticed it had a large pair of wings folded against
its back, it stopped and faced her, exposing is underside, it made a sound again, almost like singing, it looked straight up and she noticed its ice blue throat working, its wings stretched out, she smiled.  The dragon came close again and poked a hole in the ice prison with one claw, the water began to pour in, she watched it, only a very brief moment of fear passed, she looked back at the dagon who had its head to
the side, looking in at her with one large eye, which blinked again, did she see love in that eye? She could feel the water coming up above her knees now, and her legs felt tingly but she wasn't sure it was from the cold.

She put her hands to the side of the ice, looking directly into the dragons eye, smiling, unafraid, the water was beginning to cover her head. Once her prison was full she looked around her, realizing she could still breathe; the dragon broke her prison away, she was enchanted by him. She realized her hair had turned seafoam green as it swam around her, looking down she noticed a shimmering green fish tail from her hips down with a lighter green frilly lace like edge at the top, it came down at a point some below her navel. On her arms were light green fins along the back, thin , and beautiful. She swam a gaceful dance for the dragon who sang for her.

Stopping in front of the dragon she put a hand at the end of his snout and pet him, he shut his eyes and made a sound in his throat that was nearly lke a cat purr. The dragon then looked down and scooped up arms full of oysters, making another sound, the oysters all opened automatically, revealing perfect and beautiful pearls. The dragon set the oysters in the sand and summoned various creatures who began to string the pearls in her hair, she smiled and watched the dragon the whole time.

When her hair was finished, the oysters and other creatures seemed to bow away and she and the dragon began to swim together, up, up, up, to the surface. She found herself standing on top, her hair still seafoam, but her legs back, the water below. The great serpant like dragon flew high into the air, apeared to swim in the air a moment, and dived back below. Then he arrose and as he arrose he transformed into a beautiful man with sky blue hair and bright purple eyes, he too wore nothing. The two locked hands, embraced, then kissed, they began to
dance, laughing on the surface of the water.

Voices, they began to hear voices, and people beginning to emerge from the forest into the lush green grass around the water. The only thing the people saw was the ends of two fish tails disappearing below the waters surface, and ripples widining across the top. Rain began to fall from the sky. The people left.

Below the maiden was held in the arms of the dragon, and she hugged his neck and fell asleep, the dragon watching over her. He laid her in a bed of sea weed and changed into a merman, lay beside her, and held her. He watched her, gently touching her face. He gently kissed her rosy full lips.

She sat straight up in bed, looking around her, the covers pooled in her lap, her hair, blonde, swung over her shoulders, she looked around the room, her bedroom. The red numbers on the clock showed three eleven, she sighed, studying her arms, disapointed. She pushed her hair back and noticed something. Her hair was strung with pearls, beautiufl perfect pearls in many places, some of her hair was weaved into braids, small braids, and a single piece of wet seaweed was caught in a small
tangle of her hair. She smiled, picking out the seaweed and laid back in her bed, wondering which was reality, she fell asleep again.
