A Sign of Peace

Once upon a time, not so long ago,
When mere rocks became our pets,
And trolls came in many disguises.
There were yellow smiling faces everywhere,
And people wore flowers in their hair.
The smell of incense was in every room-
And the music came from black vinyl.
There were flowers painted here and there,
And graffiti always beckoned peace and love.
It didn't matter if jeans had a name,
And it was okay if they had patches.
Everyone greeted each other with a hug,
And parted with a sign of peace.
I was a child of the flowers
And my curtains were made of beads.
My posters would glow in the black light,
And my lamp held bright red lava.
I have long since lost my pet rock,
And who knows where my trolls have gone.
I will always have my memories to hold.
