Last night as I was wondering
Through translucent layers of sleep
I ran in to the Transformer
And my conscience took a leap
He was standing on the mountain
Where our ancestors came to land
I could not tell but he had something
Clinched in his leather like hand

At first I was nervous and figured I should flee
But his eyes flashed and this seemed to remove
All the doubt from me
I joind him and we travelled
Through out his ancient home
Some of the things he asked me
I will relate here in this poem

He brought me to the river
Where the salmon used to run
So thick that you could walk on them
Now you are lucky to see one

He brought me to the forest
Where the huge canoe trees stood
Now all we saw were stumps
And trucks leaving with our wood

He brought me to the big house
Where our cultures songs were heard
But the only noise that surfaced
Sounded like a broken bird

He brought me to the places
Where the sacred work was done
And here he found nobody
Just some webs that time had spun

It was here that I got worried
As the earth began to shake
He raised his hands up to the sky
And I found myself awake.
