Ven Pongal

        • Raw Rice- 1 cup
        • Green gram Dhal- 1 cup
        • Whole Black pepper- 1 tsp
        • Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
        • Cashew nuts- 10
        • Dalda- 5 tablespoons
        • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
        • Salt
        • Curry leaves- 8

        Steam rice and green gram dhal in a pressure cooker with salt & turmeric powder.
        Heat dalda in a pan add black peppers, cumin seeds & cashew nuts and fry until the cashews are golden. Add curry leaves. Remove the pan from heat and pour this over the steamed rice and dhal mixture. Mix well. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
