Dij's journal of Ireland

22 June 2002

Got up @ around 10 am and was able to catch the 11:30 bus to Strokestown. The taxi guy was pretty nice and we talekd about other countries and him wanting to go to Disneyland/world. The bus ride itself was okay, I didnt know where the stop would be so I wasn't able to rest on the bus. The bus did stop for 5 minutes at this one place and I moved up to where I heard some American voices. (and yes they were for the program). The rest of the day was alright. I met the 14 other people doing the program. Most of them were exhaused b/c they had just gotten off the plane that day. There were a few wise ones like me who were already rested and we decided to check out the pubs of the area. Supposedly there was a huge bonfire going on at this hill top, so we went and visited it. One thing I already love about here is there is a drink called Bacardi Breezer. Oh man they are good! I think I'm going to bring some back with me. YUM! We stopped by another pub (that also had a bonfire going) and had a more interesting time there. To sum up, there were a lot of young people there (15-17) and soem of the guys were interested iun two of my companions. I had this one guy (who was probaby in his 20s) hit on me. I was quite amused. For two reasons 1) He wanted to take me out on his boat and go down the Shannon and 2) He likes S Club 7. We finally turned in for the night at around 12:15am. My roommates were fast asleep so it was no pajama-changing tonight!
