First off my bed is so incredibly comfortable. Today was orientation and we got an idea of whast we're in store for. There are 13 pubs in the town. Our program gives us a chance to explore the rest of the country over the weekend. I think there are some people interested in going to Dublin one weekend. I found out that this other girl is interested in going to Glasgow, so the two of us might head there one weekend. The food here really isn't the greatest, but ah well. We went out to teh site that we'll be digging at.
It's on a hilltop overlooking a lake. It's quite beautiful. We had a brief rain moment where it poured for 10-15 minutes. Enough time to get whatever wasnt cavered by raingear soaked. At the site, there's a smelly farm dog, named Rusty. He's incredibly friendly but I dont think he's ever had a bath. O,o. We saw a cemetary up there. There were a few gravestones as old as 1798. Others were from the late 19th and in the 20th century.
The excitement of the day was watching a snail crawl on this girl's hand. Cheap thrills. Nothing else too exciting happened. Maybe next time. Tomorrow we start the actual digging. Oh, I found out about internet access. It's incredibly limited. Besides the library (where the internet is) being open at different hours of each day and closed on Sundays and Mondays, you have to sign up for an hour's slot before you go on. That and the library basically closes a few hours after we get back from the site. so I'll probably be able to use it a few times, if even that, while on my trip. Ah well, C'est la vie. Quick addition - went out to a pub, got Smirnoff Ice - love them!
