The people of the Nasca culture, as of many other cultures of the planet, concieved the universe as divided in three: the upper world, the middle world and the underworld.
The Inkas in the later epoch called these worlds Hanan Pacha, Kay Pacha and Ukhu Pacha. Kay Pacha (the middle world, the world of "here") is the space of everyday life, whereas the other two worlds are the realm of supernatural forces: deities, spirits, the dead.
These three universes interacted in the reality, which for us, people of modern mentality appears strange and exotic; reality which our scientists have denominated "Magic".

The Inkas to give structure and dimensions to their universe, used the enigmatic system of "ceques" - imaginary lines that ran in the form of rays from the center of the Cosmos - the capital city of Cusco.

These lines pointed at shrines, sacred mountains and stars, linking the worlds. Some of the Nasca lines also can be considered as spacial axis and ways of communication between these worlds.

The plains of Nasca could have served as an enormous stage for rituals and ceremonies with the use of psychotropic (hallucinogenic) beverages, in which the lines were the ways that lead from Kay Pacha to those worlds of magic... and truth.
