George W. Chaloupka Family

George W. Chaloupka was born in Monmouth Township, Jackson County, Iowa October 1857 (map).  His parents and older siblings emigrated to the US around 1855.  George was the first child of John and Catherine Chaloupka to be born on US soil.

On 5 January 1880, George married Mary Shabataka.  The couple obtained their marriage license in Anamosa, Jones County, Iowa but were married by a Catholic priest who was, at the time, the pastor of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  The marriage return was sent to the Circuit Court in Jones County, so they most likely were married in Jones County while the priest was visiting. Research in St. Wenceslaus church records has not been completed to date so it is possible that they may have been married in Cedar Rapids.

By 1885, George and Mary were living in Madison Township, Jones County, IA, section 36, and George's parents were living in their household.

Children of George and Mary:

          Joseph Chaloupka (1 September 1880 - )

          Anna Chaloupka (February 1882 - )

          Henry Chaloupka (November 1883 - )

On 7 April 1897, George married Sarah E. Holub in Wyoming, Jones County, Iowa.  By 1900, Sarah, George and his three children were living in Lovell Township, Jones County, IA.  George and Sarah had no known children together.
