Passing of John Chaloupka

John Chaloupka an old and respected citizen of Jones County died at the home of his son George Chaloupka three miles south of Monticello Monday, January 15, at 11:10 o'clock.  Deceased died of infirmity of old age.  John Chaloupka was born October 7, 1811, in Bohemia, in the city of Castalavice, and was married to Catherine Pirko, February 3, 1836, emigrate to this country in 1855 locating in Jackson County, Ia, then to Jones county where deceased has spent all the rest of his life, excepting one year in Guthrie County.

This union was blessed with nine children, eight of whom survive, six being present at the funeral, fifty-two grand children and thirty great grand children.  The funeral services were held at the home of his son George last Wednesday at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Innes of Monticello and the remains were taken to Wyoming, Ia. to be laid beside those of his wife in Wyoming Cemetery, who died ten years ago.
