After
ploughing up one of our local dual
carrigeways with the police car in front
furiously indicating left - right - right
- left - hazards, I decided it was time
to make my own indicators heard. The
visual indication on tha dashboard is
pathetic and the sound easily dissapears
under the throaty rattle - I mean roar,
of the essex.
A little mess with
a few electronic components (it's what I
do for a living) brought about a suitable
circuit
and as it happens a friend donated a
little sounder (salvaged from a meto
ticket machine) however RS
sell these too.
I could have just
connected it across the flasher unit
directly but that would sound more like a
reversing warning - not nice. As it
stands now it makes a short musical
click, or a squeaky tick some (the cheeky)
may say.

The flasher unit is
on the right of the steering
column just under the dash (which
one - the one that clicks when
you indicate silly) and the unit
was scotch blocked onto the
ingoing wires.
The hot - glue gun
also came into play.
Hot glue is like
the electronic equivalent of an
engineers welder, great fun, gets
on everything and everywhere.

Result - well, it
does what it says on the label I guess. I
might have to fix it down as it may
rattle as I drive about but the sound is
fine if a bit strange.
A bit like the car
really.
