Piosa is a young, spoiled, Morair's daughter, bred and raised to marry and bear children one day. Sumuru, from their infancy, has been her closest friend and dread protector. Together, they traveled to Cathair Utopian under the guise of hatching spectators, but Piosa's was a much more rebellious mission; though her duty is to protect Piosa, as a friend Sumuru can only support her.

And now that Piosa's plan has come to fruition, it is time to bear the consequences, something she has rarely had to do. Sumuru can only protect her from so many things, and to protect Piosa from herself is something she must not do. That's Piosa's lesson to learn. Especially when Sumuru has problems of her own...
