Girl Germs:
All I can say is: WoW! Mara is one of the best graphics people I have seen, and this comes out in her page. When I looked at her code, I saw a person who has successfully implemented almost every trick in the book...javascripts, CSS scripts, fonts, tables, you name it, she's done it and done it good! There are few boundaries to the good things I could say about Mara, and the quality of her pages, but I'll leave the rest of that to the others. I'll let my HUGE nod of approval reflect in my rating...in fact, at some point, I said: "Can't we find ANYTHING bad about this site?" I checked out a couple of other reviews, and the only gripe I could find was a minor complaint about the extensive use of javascripts. While this might be the case, in actuality, I picked up more javascript errors on the review page than I did on Mara's entire site. :) Artemis' Score: 10
Girl Germs is what I would call a macro-page...a page which leads viewers into other, completed sites. The first thing you'll note is the graphics, which are done in "mara-style" ... rounded off corners, links in small type, set apart by colons (:). As Artemis said, Mara is a very talented artist, and her site maintains a balance of good color use and artistic ability. Have you ever been to a site where the graphics would be nice if they weren't just jumping out of the screen at you? Mara manages to make visually pleasing pages that don't hurt your eyes. How many pages use GRAY as a backdrop and do so really well? Some of the best Sailor Moon pages out there don't use the standard webpage white or black, and some don't use the standard SM-colors of pink and blue... First off, a side note: Mara, I hope you can recover from your computer woes and come back to us soon. Girl Germs, and the rest of the sites that Mara has connected to it, have tons of stuff you can do. Between Team Venus and PPP, there are sound files, fics, a forum, and numerous areas of web graphics and tutorials. Mara is the person to go to if you want to know how to do corner graphics...a sort of take-off on the standard side-border pics. With all of the stuff you can do on these sites, I found a lot of information on Sailor Venus and Sailor Pluto, and a lot more information on how to put in graphics. My only minor downer was when I saw the announcement that "Mara's Going Commercial" which I understand, having seen her work... Mara will no longer give free advice to people building webpages.
