Violent Winds: http://www.oocities.org/Tokyo/Springs/2942/homepage.htm Out of all of the Outer Sailors, none seems to draw as much attention as Sailor Uranus. (Sailor Neptune runs a close second) Violent Winds is one of many sites on the Internet featuring the Senshi of the Sky... Violent Winds combines good, yet simple graphics with a wealth of well-organized information to come up with a evenly-rounded site. In terms of graphics, the site is pleasing to the eye, and the color combinations are very well-coordinated. The title graphics are quite attractive. There are just enough graphics to catch the eye...the site master didn't go overboard in this department. In the various subdivisions of this site, the overall motif continues, except in the "Archive of Turbulent Motions," where the site master uses a dark background and light text...and carries it off very nicely. As to the information and other materials on the site... The information on Haruka and her alter-ego is quite extensive, and it is broken up nicely into manga and anime sections. The material appears to be complete, accurate, and the site master used the proper names for this particular character. The fanart gallery was quite well-done, and the artwork itself is very nice. Kudos to the artists. The gem of the site is the animated gallery. There are a ton of animated pics here, and while I have seen a few of them before, there are some longer versions of familiar scenes that make them kinda-sorta new, which is a nice plus. While the site does have a still-pic gallery, the pictures there are quite common. The page itself is well-done however. "The Great Courtyard" is a must-see if you visit this page. Articles ranging from rants to webpage tips can be found here. Overall, Violent Winds does an excellent job in presenting one of the more mysterious characters in the Sailor Moon series. My compliments to the site master. Artemis' Score: 9.5 As the title suggests, a Haruka shrine. This page certainly has more than meets the eye. Every subpage is divided into subpages, which in turn are divided into more... ^_^; Good understanding of the character. This is actually, in my opinion, one of the best Uranus pages, although it does have some tough competition - Uranus is a complex but intriguing character. Beyond the written pages, there are others, like music clips (midi), videos and animations, images, fanart (gorgeous!)... the whole shebang. ^_^ My favourite page here is Cloud of Thoughts... touching, well written and, as said before, with great understanding of the character. The ability to put oneself in a character's place really makes for a good shrine. The Controversies page was also extremely interesting. The page does have some a few non-Uranus-centered items, as it used to be a combo page called Tranquility, but it's not a focus of the site any more. My one complaint with this page lies in Geocities.... greeting me with a constant barrage of Javascript errors! Extremely annoying. ^_^ Luna's Score: 9 The first thing that catches my eye is the simple, yet effective layout. Everything looks clean, and the site appears to be easily navigated. I LOVE the unique Haruka images on the main page. The Star Balcony is devoted to seperating the manga from the anime. I love it when authors research both sides of the characters to realize that the two forms are really quite different. It takes a creative individual to dealve into the thoughts of a character based solely on the actions and relationships of that character. Clouds of Thoughts is wonderfully original as the author attempts to show a side of Haruka we normally do not see. The Webpage Creation Tips is a wonderfully informative section that every newbie should research. Many of the older sites have such a section. I always love to see someone who is willing to share their ideas and knowledge with others. She does note that her original creations are not to be used elsewhere as to "create a more diverse Sailormoon Online Community." I agree that her site is quite original and admire the tact she uses in dissuading others from directly stealing those ideas. The Link of the Moment section is a nice touch. I always love to see fans supporting the pages of other fans. Sometimes it is hard to sift through all the mediocre pages to find the precious jewels, but this author has helped us all by suggesting sites we might not have seen. I've followed this page for several months now, and I must admit that it is one of my favorites. Originality and creativity all around! Even the name is catchy! I hope you all will drop by and check it out. Diana's Score: 9.5 Overall Score: 9.2 |
