![]() "When evil forces are sensed and hideous monsters appear, only these girls are brave enough and strong enough to fight them, to protect the Silver Crystal and its holder." This rather stirring phrase is what greets those who visit Silver Moon Light Princess, a general Sailor Moon site. The manga picture that the splash page uses is a recurring theme throughout the page. Combined with the light-handed touch on the graphics, and the page comes across as a relaxed and airy environment. The site also loads quickly. Upon entering into the actual page itself, you can see that there is quite a few things to keep users entertained. The main page is almost fully-contained in the browser window when it opens, and a slight adjustment fixes it so that all of the content is on the screen. (The only thing at the bottom is a small disclaimer.) The layout throughout the page is simple but nice. Graphics are only used when they need to be and they are very nicely done. I was a tad disappointed that some of the areas of the webpage are not yet completed. Some of the work is evident in the navigation choices that hint of neat and new things to come in the near future. Other construction sneaks up on you, like in the sounds section where the site author apologizes for there not being anything there. On the other hand, judging by the content of the site, when the uncomplete parts of the site are done, they will be well worth the wait. An example of this is the Profiles area. When I clicked into the area and saw the profile for Sailor Moon, I thought I was getting just another set of profiles that had just your average information. The pages are well-designed, yes, but the beginning of the information looked rather plain. Then I looked further down the screen. I found that there is a depth of information in each profile that most similar sites do not have. There's information on each character's personality, in both the Japanese and NA dub versions of the series. There's even a "wierd" category, where the author gives the reader a couple of things she finds awkward about each character. The character's first appearance, their voice actors, both Japanese and English, and a complete listing of all transformations, attacks, and items is included for each character. The profiles area looks like it is going to expand to include information on friends and family, as well as a rather large area devoted to the badguys! The picture galleries look to be quite nice and well-stocked. The soudn archive does not yet have anything in it, as I said before. Which brings me to what impressed me the most about this site...the graphics area. The graphics of the main area are of varying quality, from the rather plain of some of the banners (but who wants to be dazzled by something that's just there to be a title holder?) to the rather beautiful banners and buttons. (The Luna Banner 1, for example, or the Ocean View button) The real treat of the graphics area is in the section called "Whitedresses", and the things Des has created here are very beautiful. I was amazed that so many things could be done with one picture, and all of these graphics are very seemless. I would have thought that every so often, one pic would pick up the trailing edge of its neighbor, but that does not happen. I was quite impressed by this work, and I hope it continues. There were a couple of things that need a small bit of work on. There is of course, the rather obvious problem of parts of the site not being completed. Links from the main navigation areas, the sounds archive, and the fanfic area need to be finished. One small thing bothered me in the profiles area. In the Chibusa profile, you said: "I think" at one point. If this is a spot on the page dealing with facts and you don't know the fact for certain, put down a ? until you find the facts to fill the space. (FYI: The reason they named the character "Sailor Mini Moon" is because "chibi" means "small", "runt", or "dwarf" in Japanese, so although it's rather awkward, the word "mini" best fits the context the Japanese were trying to use.) About Sailor Silver Moon...it would be a good thing to have some information there so that fans don't get confused. Don't think it can happen? Ask me about Sailor Amethyst some time... Finally, although the comet cursor on the main page is not as annoying as some of the ones I've seen, they can be a turn-off to some people. Other than those few problems which could be cleared up quite quickly, Silver Moon Light Princess is an excellently-done site.
