January 2005 - YCCCA Tsunami Relief Programs:

January 6th, 2005 – YCCCA donated $5,000 to Red Cross. The money transfer took place at Doncrest Public School gymnasium during the linedance class. It was prior to Jan 11th and therefore Federal Government will match the amount to make it $10,000.

January 8th and 9th – YCCCA co-sponsored with 20+ organizations headed up by Dr. Joseph Wong of Yee Hong and raised $620,000 for Red Cross and Oxform. Federal Government matched it to make it $1.2 Millions.

January 16th – YCCCA linedance group raised $700 through a dance review session at Tai Art Dance Studio and the money was sent to Red Cross.

January 21st – YCCCA co-hosted a dance party which was co-ordinated by Lewis Lee and raised $18,000. The money was donated to World Vision of Canada.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our members who have been very supportive in the above fund raising initiatives for the tsunami victims. We appreciate your effort in participating in the above programs.

Fall Foliage Trip to Algonquin Park

$22 for member and $30 for non-members, including tax

100 YCCCA members and friends boarded two Jacco buses and had a wonderful day at Algonquin Park. We're blessed that we had great weather and 80% Colour change of the Maple trees.

Many members enjoyed their visit and shopping at the Chocolate Maple Syrup House. The group had buffet lunch at King Buffet in Huntsville. The scenery on both sides of Highway 60 leading into Algonquin Park was breathtaking. With the exception of very few, the group explored the Whiskey Rapids trail in Algonquin. The Algonquin Park Visitors Centre offered world class exhibits on the Park's natural and human history, a relaxing restaurant, an excellent bookstore and "The Algonquin Room" featuring ongoing exhibitions of Algonquin art. A theatre presentation sums up the Park story and then takes you out to the viewing deck from where you can admire a breathtaking panorama of wild Algonquin landscape. We returned to Toronto at 7:30 p.m. Half of the groups ended the fun day by having dinner at Lengend Restaurant.

Although the morning was a bit wet, the sun came out later in the day and we all had a rather relaxing trip.

The Walkaton was a great success. The group pledged a total of $2,549. There're 25 who walked that morning under cloudy sky in warm weather. There're live bands playing country music along the 4 km. walking trail. We're very tempted to linedance along our way.

More than half of the group had dim sum lunch together after the walk, and resulted in the initiation of the Foliage one-day trip.

A very successful event!

This is an event that YCCCA supports. As the President of the Association, I urge you to join me to take part in this very meaningful charity function.
I started to distribute Pledge forms at the thursday's Doncrest Linedance class. All YCCCA functional groups (Linedance, Ballroom, Tai Chi, Basketball, Badminton, Opera Singing. Yoga) will participate. YCCCA provides free YCCCA T-shirt to those who pledge and walk. All Pledge forms will be collected on or before September 26th class and T-shirt will be distributed. Please wear the YCCCA T-shirt for the Walk. We'll have a YCCCA Banner to lead our group.

132 guests participated in the Fundraising event. The Food sale and dance tickets totalled $3,000+. All proceeds were donated to Yee Hong Wellness Foundation. The event was a tremendous Success. Thanks to all guests, all volunteers who prepared the food for the food sale, all GLIDE members (Peter Hui, Elizabeth Ng, Helina Koo, Julie Mak, David Pao, George Hum and Anita Chick) who contributed their time to make this event such a great success. As well, special thanks to Peter who arranged the music.
