Khryse:
Apollo and the sun arise
Taking sweet Dawn by hand
Shyly smiling, Phoebus flies
With Dawn across the morning land.
Cassandra:
Rosy-fingered Eos blushes
Glowing red she stretches out
Her hands, and night's dark curtain rushes
Back from daylight's timid sprout.
Khryse and Cassandra:
The morning is the frailest creature
Shaken by a shadow's sigh
Ready to wrap up her features
On the verge of fleeing up high
Cassandra:
Apollo stills her frightened heart
And sparking sunbeams, Sun God makes
The sky's dark flee, and daytime start
Great Day in splendour breaks
The Day is brave, the Day is hot
She drives back darkness and its chill
She does not flinch; she trembles not
But sends her light the sky to fill
Khryse and Cassandra:
Apollo reigns, the Lord of Sun
And shining bright with gold the handsome
God reigns King when all is done.
Apollo lights the blackest sky
Apollo fights the longest night
Invisibly his palm moves high
High above the Heavens
High above the Heavens
