This is an example of a place where the ground fell into the lava tube, forming what is called a window.
Some "windows" are smaller, but closer together. This is part of The Four Windows, a place where four windows are located close together.
This hole was the largest one we saw. We actually stood at the top of it and looked down into it before we entered the cave.
