On September 8, the group traveled to Window Rock AZ, to experience what goes on at the Navajo Nations Fair. The road to Window Rock was closed 2 miles from the NM-AZ border. So after parking, everyone walked the rest of the way in. We found we were walking the parade route and were getting some looks, so we decided not to take the street any more, but the sidewalk. Our group really stuck out from most of the other people that were attending the parade. We walked across the border of NM to AZ. When we arrived at the fair, we realized just how many people attend. Cars were everywhere, and so were vendors and food wagons. At the fair were rides, many booths, food vendors, a Navajo art gallery, and in the afternoon, a rodeo. Much of the day was spent at the fair, and after leaving, we all knew that we had experienced a cultural awakening we were not expecting.
