Art Trip to Farmington and Red Mesa & Chaco Canyon
The week began with Mr. Yazzie's art class taking a field trip to two different murals he had painted. The first mural was in Farmington, NM. His mural was painted on the inside wall of foster care mission. The painting was of many different scenes of people and seasons. The second mural was in a church in Red Mesa, AZ. This mural displayed many bible stories such as the creation, Moses on Mt. Sinai, and the life of Christ.
The second trip of the weekend was to Chaco Canyon. Chaco Canyon was a place were the ancient Anasazi people once lived. The ruins of the stone villages still stand today. The largest of the ruins, Pueblo Bonito once contained over 800 rooms and was 5 stories high. We were able to walk around in Pueblo Bonito. After viewing other ruins in the area, we climbed to the top of a mesa to look at Pueblo Bonito from the top, just to see how big it really was. Although the weather was not the best we had, the trip was still very interesting, to see ruins from hundreds of years ago.
