Domaris asks: You've decided that you and your partner want to try fisting. Where do you start?

Domaris says: First, and most importantly - be patient.

Domaris says: It may take several encounters to work up to inserting your whole hand. Take things slowly, and above all, listen to her.

Domaris says: Work up to it one finger at a time. Get her used to the feeling of fullness that she'll experience, and if she or her body's not ready to accept more, then move on to other things.

Domaris says: Remember, you can always try again another time.

Domaris says: It's not a race, it's not a contest.

Domaris asks: What will you need?

Domaris says: Aside from the obvious. <grin>

Domaris exclaims: Towels or sheets to put underneath are nice, particularly if you're concerned about being messy (or hate wet spots!)

Spivey chuckles

Domaris says: Although it's possible to fist barehanded, I strongly, strongly recommend the use of gloves.

Domaris exclaims: Which pretty much boils down to 'wear gloves!' <grin>

Lavicka grins

Domaris says: Gloves will reduce the risk of nicks, scrapes or cuts on those soft tissues, and the smooth gloves also slide in really nicely.

Domaris says: Plus, they lube up well.

Domaris says: Also, of course, gloves are essential in protecting against the transmission of STDs for safer sex purposes.

Domaris says: Please also remember that latex allergies are on the rise.

sherry smiles and nods

Domaris says: Be sure that neither of you are allergic to the gloves - reactions to latex can be strong and potentially lethal.

Domaris says: The time to find this out is -not- when you have your hand sunk to the wrist in someone else's body.

Domaris says: If latex isn't an option, there are other glove materials you can buy, and they're all fairly readily available.

Domaris says: Another absolute essential: Lubrication.

Domaris says: You can not have too much lube.

Domaris says: Use what you like the best.

Domaris says: Keep in mind that oil-based lubricants will break down latex, and water-based lubricants will generally need either a lot of re-application, or reconstitution with a bit of water.

Domaris says: Also, stay away from spermicidal lubes. They can be an instant irritant and really not necessary here either.

Domaris say: Before you begin, cut and file your fingernails.

robbie nods vehemently on that point.

Spivey nods... makes sense

sherry takes notes

Domaris exclaims: And I don't mean cut them so they're a quarter of an inch long, either! Cut them down short.

Domaris says: Long nails run the risk of popping right through a glove and they present a very high risk for injuring your partner.

Domaris says: It is very easy to cut or nick the soft tissues with sharp-edged nails or even hangnails. This is NOT something that you want to do.
