As you enter the wagon you will see to your right shelves housing the drinking vessels. Behind this, you will note the wagon is left open all the time: this is so the Frees in camp can see you serve and enjoy the beauties in the wagon.
Stepping around the table in the center toward the water barrels in the back there is a flap that leads outside and to the chilling pit.. you will find there a set of steps down to the ground and yet another leading down into the pit which was dug as O'our only means of refridgeration. As you descend the steps into the chilling pit there is no door. It's actually a heavy hide, tacked tightly to keep the cold in and the warmth and any animals passing by out. It is big enuff you can walk right in; everything that is needed is kept on the the shelves within your view.
There is little ice on Gor, what we have is stored under the wood floor. hauled mainly in the winter cut in blocks from the river....in mid summer barrels of water are brought down into the pit..the floor is raised and make of slats each about a half an inch apart. The barrels of water are dumped to the floor to keep the pit damp and cold.
