Roleplay Number: 04 XWF Record: 02 - 01 - 00 Opponent: 'Old School' Steve Corino vs. HHH Event: Fight Night
The Old School Legacy: Old School Victims: Roleplay Title: " The Return of Old School " The scene opens up with a poor quality shot of the backstage area at an XWF event, the camera picture moves in and out of focus before finally stabilising. The picture quality isn't perfect but it allows us to see quite clearly as the camera moves from a backstage hallway and into the locker room area. We are shown your typically plain locker room with only two men in it, one is Jack Victory who is sitting in the corner of the room looking away from the camera and the other stands in front of the camera staring ahead, the other man is none other than the King of Old School himself, Steve Corino. Corino smirks as he runs a taped up hand through his slicked back hair, he then comes even closer to the camera before beginning to speak. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' No, there's no need to rub your eyes in disbelief, what you're seeing is very much real. The king has returned. The King of Old School... the King of Kings... the true god of professional wrestling... Steve Corino is back. But... look at what I've came back to. ' Corino turns away from the camera briefly, putting a hand up to his face and shaking his head. Jack Victory, still sitting in the background let's out a sort of grunt in agreement as Corino turns back to the camera. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' I've came back to yet another 'extreme' promotion, a home for thugs who haven't got a hint of real wrestling ability. Unfortunately extreme wrestling is something I'm all too familiar with... it's certainly not like I haven't seen my fair share of 'hardcore' maniacs before. In ECW I was the man who did his utmost to confront the disgusting phenomenon that was hardcore wrestling... I stood against chair wielding, kendo stick waving thugs and I beat them in there own back yard. But, I was able to beat them without an illegal object in my hand... I was able to beat them with good old-fashioned old school wrestling. Everyone can look back and see that I stood against hardcore wrestling and won... 'cause when ECW died hardcore wrestling went with it but old school wrestling and Steve Corino have lived on. Hardcore was merely a flash in the pan... a phase that will be forgotten in years to come. Believe me, no matter how many times people try to resurrect it hardcore wrestling is dead. So if here in the XWF people want to restore hardcore wrestling then they had best think again... it simply isn't going to happen. The fans don't want it any more, it doesn't bring in the money and there's plenty of people like myself just waiting to beat hardcore wrestling back down into the ground. The XWF should know that by signing me to a contract they've given themselves a major headache... in fact, they might as well have signed there own death wish... after all it was 'The King of Old School' Steve Corino that killed ECW and that is exactly what lies ahead for the XWF. I won't stand by and let anyone try to call themselves extreme or try to resurrect hardcore wrestling... it's my job to make sure hardcore wrestling stays dead, once and for all. ' The expression on Steve Corino's face has gone from that of calm and composed to angry and incensed. Corino takes a deep breath out and then in before launching into somewhat of an angered rant. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' It truly sickens me to think that real old school athletes like myself are being passed over for hardcore high fliers. Flying around the ring and carrying around weapons means nothing to me... it simply isn't wrestling as far as I'm concerned. Wrestling is about traditional technical battles and good old fashioned brawling... and that's what you see with myself, a technical specialist, and Jack Victory, a true smash mouth wrestler. Instead of old school wrestlers it seems like the XWF is more interested in Mick Foley, a middle-aged madman... not who I'd think you would want to be representing all of the XWF as the World Heavyweight champion. In my mind Foley as champion is an embarrassment to the sport of professional wrestling. I think some of the former great World Heavyweight champions, the likes of Lou Thesz, Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes and Buddy Rogers, would be just as embarrassed as myself to see Mick Foley holding that title. I certainly would have no problem removing that title from around Foley's waist and putting it back where it belongs, over the shoulder of a real old school wrestler like myself. I know the way things work though... I won't be getting any title opportunities for a while yet, but eventually my time will come and I just hope Mick Foley realises that I will reclaim the World Heavyweight title in the name of old school wrestling, then hopefully I can restore some credibility to the World Heavyweight title. ' Corino stops talking as he turns his back on the camera and strolls over to Jack Victory who remains seated on a bench against the back wall of the locker room. Corino grabs a bottle of water from beside Jack and begins to take sips from the water before speaking to Jack. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' You know I can rest a little bit easier knowing there's at least one other old school believer in the XWF. There just aren't enough old heavyweights like you Jack. I mean here in the XWF they could do with a lot more of your straight forward brawling and a lot less of the somersaulting stuntmen that seem to be around every corner of the damn XWF. ' 'OLD SCHOOL BELIEVER' JACK VICTORY: ' Look, I just do what I know best, and that's giving out damn good beatings. It's never failed me before, it never failed me in all the years I've spent going from one little indy promotion to the next. Sure, my career might not have been too glamorous but as long as I've been winning it's always paid the bills. ' 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' Well I know what you mean about this business not being too glamorous, you know I've spent my fair share of time bouncing around from tiny show to tiny show, wrestling in front of only a hundred or so people, but I was never going to sell my soul to get a shot at the big time. I mean I know that I got myself the big money contract here in the XWF for one reason only, my old school wrestling ability... I'm just not the sort of guy who brown-noses or hell, even sleeps his way to the top. ' 'OLD SCHOOL BELIEVER' JACK VICTORY: ' Haha... I'd have slept my way to the top if I'd had the chance. ' 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' You can joke Jack, but that's the only option for some people. I'm sure you know who I'm talking about by now... my opponent this week at Fight Night, Triple H. ' Steve Corino pauses before taking a larger sip from his water and then he begins to move back into the centre of the camera shot as he starts to re-address the television audience. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' Triple H has certainly worked his way up through the wrestling business over time, but can he say for one second that he's where he is today because of his wrestling ability? I know I can say that I've only ever been a wrestler and that it's my old school wrestling ability that's got me through the industry... I've never been a backstage politician and I've never been in any of the backstage groups, factions or cliques. Triple H on the other hand would have gotten nowhere if it wasn't for hanging around with the right people, doing whatever the boss says and most importantly, knocking up Stephanie McMahon. He's managed to weasel his way into a position of power and despite clearly having no wrestling talent the man has earned himself a reputation as one of biggest names in our industry. Something just isn't right about that. Jack Victory appears to move from the bench he was sitting on and moves to Corino's side as the King of Old School pauses once more and tries to compose himself before continuing to speak to the camera. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' You see Triple H has made sure he's always stayed in the limelight, with either a title around his waist or a main event spot at the top of the card. And of course he's also been doing everything in his power to stop the younger, more talented guys from being given their opportunity, after all we can't have them making him look bad. Still, the worst thing about Triple H is that he believes his own hype; he believes that he should always have a title around his waist and that he should have every right to cheat those more talented than him out of a prosperous career. The man even believes that he has some wrestling talent and seems to forget that he's only won matches because guys have been lying down to him for years, other guys know that if they don't lie down then they'll have Vince McMahon breathing down their necks and they'll have all but thrown away their careers. It's shocking that one man, one sad little man like Triple H can hold so much power. Wrestling should be about the better man winning, it should be about what happens inside the ring and the true professional wrestling gods like myself shouldn't be passed over and forgotten about because some big nosed backstage politician doesn't want them stealing his shine. ' Jack Victory nods his head as Steve Corino pauses yet again for a drink of water before finally tossing the bottle to Jack who in turn tosses the bottle back to the locker room bench. 'OLD SCHOOL' STEVE CORINO: ' Now I've seen a lot of money thrown Triple H's way over the years, being spent on some new nickname or theme song, which no doubt took a whole marketing team to think up. Most recently I heard they paid thousands for Hunter to have a brand new Motorhead song for him to walk out to, that song was 'The King of Kings', which Triple H thought would be a good little name to use as well. Well you know I too have got a claim to being the King of Kings... I mean I've been getting called the King of Kings for a lot longer than he has. That was a name that I earned... a name I was given because of my abilities... it was given to me not by a marketing team aiming to sell a few t-shirts, it was given to me by the old school wrestling fans who appreciated and respected me. Sadly it seems that old school wrestling fans will be few and far between in the XWF... I'm sure most of the morons in attendance at Fight Night will scream their little lungs out at the sight of Triple H. They can scream as much as they want though, it won't make a difference... for once Triple H is going to have an opponent who isn't ready to lie down for him. He's going to have an opponent who doesn't care about his reputation, or his backstage friends, or his over sized ego. You see as Triple H's opponent at Fight Night I will only care about one think and that's proving who the real King of Kings is. At the end of the night I've got every belief that I will be the sole and undisputed King of Kings... so if I was Triple H I'd already be thinking up a new nickname and theme song. Then again maybe if I give Triple H a real old school wrestling lesson, he'll concentrate on his in ring abilities rather than flashy songs or entrances. This Friday Fight Night will see the return of Old School but as I return Triple H's demise will begin, and by the end of the night it's most definitely going to be Game Over. ' Steve Corino smirks as he motions to Jack Victory who quickly steps up to the camera from behind Steve Corino and makes the 'V' symbol with his hands. 'OLD SCHOOL BELIEVER' JACK VICTORY: ' High Spot. ' Corino continues to smirk as he and Jack Victory both turn there backs on the camera and begin to talk as they walk over to the locker room exit. The camera picture now begins to fade to the XWF logo and an advert for this Friday's Fight Night.
