Breakdown: Singles Competition
All Pro-Wrestling followed up its successful return with another
spectacular night of action on Thursday's Breakdown. However, our
man Mike Sanders didn't have such a good time, heading straight out
of the Cage Chaos qualifiers, due to interference from Shelton
Benjamin. Sander's rivalry with Benjamin had continued to hot up and
it may well come to a head at Steel Punishment, as both men will
face off against each other, but not in singles action. Mike and his
partner, Mark Jindrak, have got themselves booked against Tag-Team
champions the Basham Brothers and the team of Shelton Benjamin
and Charlie Haas . This is a great opportunity for Sanders to
capture some gold and take out
Shelton Benjamin at the same. While it may be an important match-up
Sanders will have to concentrate on other matters this week as he
will take on Mark Henry at Breakdown.
The APW logo fades up and the camera shows a practically empty car
park through which Mike Sanders and Mark Jindrak are walking, it
appears that they're headed towards a large building which is
currently obscured by some trees around the corner. Sanders is
looking as calm and cool as ever with sunglasses on, while Jindrak
is holding a couple packets of beef jerky in his hand and seems to
have his mouth full of the stuff.

Sanders:
"
Why are you eating all
that crap? You know it's terrible for you, right?
"
'AVERAGE'
Mark Jindrak:
"
Nah, it's good stuff, it's all part of my new high protein, low-carb
diet. It's the best way to lose a little weight and get in shape...
and I figured I might as well start now, so as to be ready for Steel
Punishment. "
'ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
"
Eating as much protein,
well meat, as
you can is going to get you into shape... I don't think so. It
sounds like the sort of diet Mark Henry's on, and he's dropping the
pounds isn't he. If you're going to be ready for Steel Punishment
then get back in the gym... pity this place is closed, I bet Orndorff could whip you back into shape in no time.
"
Sanders and Jindrak then round
the corner and it becomes clear that they're
outside a large training facility, it doesn't look like it is in use
but a large, slightly faded, WCW Powerplant is printed against the
side of the building. The camera then steadies as Mike Sanders and
Mark Jindrak walk into the frame. Mike Sanders takes a deep breath
in as he looks up at the Powerplant where he learnt his trade under
some of the toughest training regimes in pro-wrestling history.
'ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" This is where it all
started... not too long ago I was stepping out of this place with the
wrestling world at my feet. I had all the potential I could've wished
for and people could tell that I wasn't just going to be another
Powerplant graduate... I was destined for much more. Yet, look at me
now... what have I done with that potential? I've just had two
opportunities to realise my abilities, my potential, but I've not taken
them. I was in a Royal Rumble for the World Heavyweight championship and
lost, and then was given a second chance... a second chance that I blew.
I lost again in the Cage Chaos qualifiers, to a deluded old man
who believed he was perfect. Now where am I left after throwing away my
chances?
I'm left at the bottom of the card, forgotten about and stuck in a match
with someone who shouldn't be able to pass for a wrestler... a man who
confuses obesity with strength, Mark Henry. "
'AVERAGE'
Mark Jindrak:
"
It's tough Mike... but you shouldn't be beating yourself up. You've
still got opportunities, we've got opportunities. At Steel
Punishment we can take the tag-titles from the Basham Brothers, that's
exactly when you need to realise your potential. And remember at Steel
Punishment you get your hands on Shelton Benjamin... if it wasn't for
him you could have been fighting for that World Heavyweight
Championship. "
ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" Of course... Shelton Benjamin. It's a tough choice as to what means
more to me, taking apart that pathetic, below average chump or winning
tag team gold... thankfully the two might go together pretty well. I
know that winning the titles would be an achievement but it's something
that I expect to happen, there shouldn't be any question about it. The
Basham Brothers are devaluing the whole APW by holding onto the belts,
they're no-talent nobodies and Haas and Benjamin are two guys who need a
reality check... I defeated the man they idolise, Kurt Angle, so what do
they think I'll do to a couple of his lackeys? Winning tag team gold is
a foregone conclusion... what I'll always really care about is that
World Heavyweight Championship... and believe me the next time I get a
chance at it I'm going to grab hold and not let go. "
Mike Sanders then walks over in the direction of the Powerplant and the
camera follows as he steps through the battered looking, glass double
doors. Inside, Sanders breezes past what looks like a former reception
area, moving through another set of double doors into the
main training area. He scans what once was a top of the range
training centre... there are still two large rings at the back of the
hall as well as a number of mats scattered around, but most of the huge
hall is bare.

Sanders:
" It sure doesn't look like it use to. I can remember when this place
was state of the art, it was the best damn training facility in the
country.
Inside these very walls I was moulded from a raw young athlete into an
above average superstar... it might not have been a painless transition
but the training made me the wrestler I am today... it pushed me all the
way and some. Personally, I think too many guys got it easy while me and
you toughed it out here Jindrak. I mean do you think there's anyway Mark
Henry could cope with our old training regime... I'd even be surprised
if the man could run a couple lengths of the track. "
AVERAGE'
Mark Jindrak:
"
Hmm... you know I bet if you got a Twinkie with a bit of string on the
end and stuck it to his head he'd make it. "
ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" Haha... I could see that alright, the moron probably wouldn't know how
to get the damn Twinkie
off his head. You know he's a prime example of a man who'd never have
been able to cope in the Powerplant. He's just being rewarded for being
morbidly obese... it's revolting. Then, to make matters worse, he'll
talk it up as if there's something to be proud of in weighing 400
pounds. Most people who weigh that much can barely stand up let alone
wrestle... they have heart problems, high blood pressure, they are
certainly not people who should be stepping foot inside a wrestling
ring, 'cause in doing so they're more likely to hurt themselves than
anybody else. I really don't want to sound like a doctor here, but the
man's on his way to an early grave if he doesn't lose some weight. Then
again, why should I care... I'm not bothered about his health, 'cause
if a heart attack doesn't sort him out I'll be more than happy to on
Thursday night. The man has lost time and time again since he's joined
the APW... and Mr. McMahon truly humiliated him on Saturday, having that
group of poncey rich kids the Mean Street Posse beat him. However, come
Breakdown Mr. McMahon need not worry, he doesn't need to help me out,
I'm more than capable of humiliating Mark Henry all by myself. I'll give
Henry a real work-out, see if he can lose any of those excess pounds...
I'll get him running around the ring and dancing about, you know have
some fun before I finish things off, and when I do finish things off
everybody aught' to here an almighty crash, cause' the bigger they
come, the harder they fall. "
AVERAGE'
Mark Jindrak:
"
It sounds simple enough, after you deal with Mark Henry we can get back
to concentrating on Steele Punishment.. and before you say it, don't
worry about me not being able to compete with you. We both made it out
of the Powerplant together and we kept going, we were a team
remember... we were the Natural Born Thrillers. "
ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" You don't have to remind me... Haha. Those were the days, we ran
things back in WCW... we had success and power, all you can ever need in
this business. You know I think that's where we can go here in APW... we
can win those tag-titles and then people will have to sit up and take
note, that'll be the first step towards an even brighter future. So
it'll be the Natural Born Thrillers that head out together at Steele
Punishment to capture the gold, that's got a better ring to it than
Sanders and Jindrak. Still, no matter what the announcer calls out we've
got this one in the bag. The champions are practically a couple of hired
goons willing to do whatever JBL wants them to do, he says jump, they
jump... but without him barking out orders they're lost. And as for the
Haha.. World's Greatest Tag-Team... all I'll say is that I think the
irony of their name is wasted on you Jindrak, but I'm sure I'm not the
only one getting the joke. It's all to obvious that those two teams are
way below average, they're not in the same league as the Natural Born
Thrillers... that's the point we'll prove at Steele Punishment. But,
first thing's first I'll get back to winning ways on Thursday when I
destroy Mark Henry. The man is just one big punching bag... he's not got
a hint of skill and certainly hasn't backed up his claims of being the
World's Strongest Man. You know, he might not have realised it yet but
just because you weigh the same as a baby elephant does not mean you're
strong... and no matter how much more food he crams down that mouth of
his he's not suddenly going to gain strength. Strength comes from
fitness, from training, not from that double, extra-large Big Mac... so
feel free to add to those 400 pounds Henry it's only making my job
easier. I figure that so far you've taking a few beatings and you've
lost out a couple of times but you're still hanging about in the APW...
well not for long. I'm going to do Mr. McMahon a huge favour by giving
you a final beating and finishing you once and for all Henry, 'cause
come Thursday night, you're going to be...
"

ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" And you know what that means.. Haha!
"
Mike
smiles as he takes a few steps forwards, looking around the WCW
Powerplant just as the picture begins to fade to black and the APW logo
flashes across the screen.
