Saturday Night's Main Event: Singles Competition

All Pro-Wrestling's Breakdown shows have so far thrilled the public, but  the Saturday Night's Main Event show has been sidelined to an extent. In fact, Mike Sanders hasn't even taken part in either of the past two shows, 'cause he's not going to demean himself by getting in a match with some nobody who's not even on the roster yet... is he. Mike's more of a big time player and certainly has big events on his mind, with Steele Punishment's match and his shot at the tag-team titles not far away.  Although, Mike's been losing his patience lately, watching below average 'wrestlers' walking through the APW doors and he figured that it was time to clear out the locker-room. After issuing a challenge Carlito accepted and will face him at Saturday Night's Main Event... he'll put up with the show but only because he knows that taking out the trash is a dirty job.

The APW logo fades up and the camera shows a backstage corridor, we then begin to hear orders being shouted out by Mike Sanders as the camera moves into a locker room where Sanders is standing over Mark Jindrak. Jindrak is in the middle of doing some push-ups but suddenly slumps to the ground as his arms give way, he then slowly turns his head to look up at Sanders.

'AVERAGE' Mark Jindrak:  " Come on, Mike... that's got to be enough already. "

'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders: " Look Jindrak, get off the ground and start again... it's the only way you're going to be ready for Steele Punishment. I mean you've only been out of the ring a little while and you've already got yourself a beer-belly that Steve Austin would be proud of... you've really let yourself go.  "

'AVERAGE' Mark Jindrak:  " Hey! It's not that bad... I told you I'm on this new high protein, low carb diet, it'll be all I need to be ready for Steele Punishment. "

'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders: " Haha... enough about that diet, it won't do you any favours, Jindrak. What you need is to do some more good old fashioned push-ups... and you can start snacking on some fruit rather than that beef jerky you were stuffing your face with earlier. In fact, I might borrow an apple off Carlito once I'm finished with him on Saturday night, that'll get you started. "

Sanders laughs to himself and then motions for Jindrak to get back to doing push-ups. Jindrak groans but re-positions himself and starts doing some more push-ups. Sanders then turns away from Jindrak to face the camera.

'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders: " Speaking of Carlito he's really been  testing my patience lately. The kid's been around all of five minutes and he thinks that he's God's gift to wrestling... he seriously needs to get over himself. For some reason he's walking around as if he's got some actual talent and so far I've not seen him do anything to back that up. All I've seen is him taking a few cheapshots at people, like spiting a damn apple in their faces... I mean what's that all about, it's disgusting.

Sanders glances over his shoulder to check on Jindrak who is continuing do his push-ups.

'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders: " Now when Carlito's not spraying out apple he's spraying out a whole lot of bullshit... you know I heard some of what he's had to say about me. He seems to think that I've not done anything with my career and that I was a nobody in WCW... Haha, just because he was still in High School at the time doesn't mean that I wasn't one of the top athletes in WCW. Let me just remind him exactly why I earned the right to be called Above Average Mike Sanders. I was the mastermind of one of the biggest and most successful stables in WCW history, The Natural Born Thrillers... I'm telling you we were up there with the nWo and the Horsemen. Not only did I perform behind the scenes but I also proved myself in the ring... I was a WCW Cruiserweight champion and then won some real power, taking a role as the WCW Commissioner. I had it all in WCW power, respect and success... so does it really sound like I was a nobody? You know I was a major wrestler back then, but while I was WCW Commissioner, while I was a in the Natural Born Thrillers and while I was WCW Cruiserweight Champion... where was Carlito? "

Jindrak sighs is breathing heavily in the background as he moves from push-ups to sit-ups. Sanders offers a few fleeting words of encouragement before starting to speak again.

 'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders:  " I put out an open challenge, to anybody in the back, because I wanted to get rid of some of the below average chumps filling up the APW locker room and I was more than happy when Carlito accepted. You see Carlito is a perfect representative for all those who simply don't belong in the APW. Carlito doesn't have experience, he doesn't have talent, he doesn't have potential... he's got nothing going for him, yet still he walks around as if he's the next World Heavyweight champion. You know I just can't deal with having to sit down in the locker room and look across at kids like him. He's like all the rookie's in the APW, half of them get an easy ride into the business and then get all high and mighty, looking down their noses at rest of the locker room. Then they'll have it in them to disrespect some of the real talent on the roster, the guy's who are established pros... guy's like me. But, you see I've taken things a little more personally... I'm not prepared to take abuse off some upstart kid. If kid's like Carlito want to talk big to me then I'll be more than happy to give them a reality check in the centre of the ring. "

'AVERAGE' Mark Jindrak:  " Damn those pesky kids... eh, Mike. "

Mike Sanders spins around to see Mark Jindrak standing behind him, clearly believing he's had enough of a workout. Jindrak has a wide grin on his face following his cheeky comment but Mike hasn't taken it quite so well .

 'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders:  " I thought I told you to finish off your workout... and I don't need your smart-ass comments either.  "

'AVERAGE' Mark Jindrak:  " Haha, well all I'm trying to say is that you're sounding like a bit of an old timer there Mike... we were all rookies at some time. Anyway, I think that's a pretty decent workout... I'm feeling more than ready for Steele Punishment.  "

 'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders:  " You think so... do you? Well you're lucky I've got my match with Carlito just around the corner otherwise I'd give you a workout of my very own. "

'AVERAGE' Mark Jindrak:  " Alright, Alright.. so you were saying, bout them damn punk kids like Carlito... or something like that. "

Sanders doesn't look too pleased as he rolls his eyes at Jindrak before walking over to him and starting to talk.

 'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders:  " I'm telling you that I'm thankful we're only up against the Bashams, MNM and Haas & Benjamin... otherwise I don't know if I could trust you to be my partner. The match should be tied up already, there shouldn't be any doubt about the Natural Born Thrillers walking away with the gold, so I hope for you're sake nothing goes wrong... if something does goes wrong I'll know exactly who to blame. It's a lot easier to be confident when it comes to singles competition rather than having to rely on you, then again who wouldn't be confident going up against Carlito? The kid needs a reality check, he's still just a kid, a rookie... and if he's not going to show a little more respect then he'll have to learn his lesson the hard way. He just better not think of spitting anything in my face... that's what you call a big mistake, and I'd hate to end a career that's hardly got started. He might think that spitting in people's faces is cool but come on it's just disgusting... I mean they say kid's these days don't have any manners, well that looks like proof to me. At Saturday Night's Main Event I'm going out to show him that, whether he thinks it's cool or not, he's got a long way to go in this business... this is my little warm-up for Steele Punishment and I'm wanting some real exercise so I might have to really knock Carlito around a bit. You see come Saturday night, you've got that reality check coming for you and when you step in that ring you're going to be... "

 'ABOVE AVERAGE' Mike Sanders:  " And you know what that means, Haha. "

The picture then begins to fade out as Sanders steps away from Jindrak and the APW logo flashes up.
