Steel Punishment: Tag Team Championship TLC match
All Pro-Wrestling's first Pay-Per-View since it's return looks like
it will be a fantastic event, with some excellent matches that will
surely go down in APW history set for Steel Punishment. At the top
of the card, two phenomenal superstars, Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton,
will battle it out for the APW's World Heavyweight Championship. The
winner of that one will also know who his next major challenge will
be as the No.1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship will
also be decided in the Cage Chaos match, with Mr. Perfect, John
Cena, JBL, Sting, Lance Storm and Scott Steiner all looking
for the win. The Television, European and X-Treme titles will also
be up for grabs but the one we'll be focusing on is the Tag-Titles
which will be decided in a TLC match between Shelton Benjamin &
Charlie Haas, MNM, The Basham Brothers and The Natural Born
Thrillers. The match looks amazing on paper and following some good
performances of late, a draw with former World champion Carlito and
a win against Mark Henry, Mike Sanders is very confident of getting
his hands on the gold.
The APW logo fades up and the camera shows a hall, possibly
backstage at an APW event, where a number of photos are hanging on
the wall. The pictures feature some of the best-known and greatest
tag-teams ever to compete in pro-wrestling, with the likes of the
Midnight Express, the Road Warriors and The Rockers all shown... and
of course The Natural Born Thrillers, Sanders and Jindrak must be
there as well. Mike Sanders and Mark Jindrak are both standing
against the other wall of the corridor looking at all the photos
that are just across from them.

Sanders:
" The Legion of Doom, The Fabulous Freebirds, Rock N' Roll Express,
the British Bulldogs, the Midnight Express... and Shelton Benjamin
and Charlie Haas, now who's the odd one out?
"
'NATURAL
BORN THRILLER'
Mark Jindrak:
"
Even I can work that one out, Mike. "
'ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" Exactly... it's painfully obvious who doesn't fit in there,
Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. There's no way they could
possibly rank alongside tag-teams like the Fabulous Freebirds or the
Midnight Express. The teams that are shown on this wall are clearly
great tag-teams, they were the best tag-teams of their time and they
rightfully deserve recognition. Now I think that it's an insult to
all these excellent teams for Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas to
come along and claim that they are... the World's Greatest Tag-Team.
Benjamin and Haas might believe that they deserve a place on this
wall, in this Hall of Fame of sorts, but that belief is tantamount
to spitting in the faces of all the truly great tag-teams that have
came before them. In my eyes and in everybody else's Shelton
Benjamin and Charlie Haas are far from the World's Greatest
Tag-Team... they are simply, a very below average tag-team. "
Mike Sanders then steps
away from the wall and walks up and down the hall alongside the
photos, checking each as he goes, before stopping and standing back
once more.
'ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" It is all too easy to see that Benjamin and Haas don't belong
among the alumni of pro-wrestling tag-teams, but what about those of
the more recent past and those of the present... are Shelton
Benjamin and Charlie Haas a great tag-team when compared to average
tag-teams like the Dudley Boyz or the Hardy Boyz? Again, the obvious
answer is no, Benjamin and Haas can't argue otherwise... they
haven't proved themselves as anything but a team that could win
matches in one of the worst WWE tag-team divisions of all time. They
didn't even have any real opposition, yet they struggled to keep
hold of the tag-team titles... when average team could have
dominated the whole tag-team division. Looking at their
achievements, if they can be called that, Benjamin and Haas don't
even have the right to call themselves an alright tag-team, never
mind the World's Greatest Tag-Team. They might have been able to get
along in the WWE but this is the APW, it's a whole different ball
game... they'll actually have to face up against some above average
tag-teams, or at least one above average tag-team... the Natural
Born Thrillers, Mike Sanders and Mark Jindrak. It'll be a shock for
Benjamin and Haas I'm sure... I saw them last week struggle to beat
old-timer Shawn Michaels and his even older buddy Marty Jannetty, a
guy who can hardly stumble his way into a ring these days. I've also
seen Shelton try to compete in a few singles matches... Haha, and
they say he's the strong link... Charlie Haas must really be
pathetic. The guy has only succeeded in making the huge mistake of
crossing paths with myself, from night one he thought it would be
clever to get in my face, and then he thought that he'd interfere in
my match before jumping me backstage. It's just been mistake, after
mistake, after mistake for you Shelton... but you won't be able to
just get in a cheap shot and head for the hills this Thursday...
you'll have to stand toe to toe with me in the ring. That's when
you'll realise exactly how huge an error you've made, 'cause it'll
be payback time and you've got plenty coming to you. "
'NATURAL
BORN THRILLER'
Mark Jindrak:
"
And while that's going on I get stuck with the Bashams, right? I've
got to do the dirty work... as ever. Facing up to the two ugly guys,
who can barley put a sentence together and haven't got a hair on
their heads. Sounds like fun. "
'ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" Haha... well you know we're going to be doing this as a team... I
just thought we'd take a divide and conquer approach. I'll beat the
living crap out of Shelton and Haas and you can at least be up
against some guys of similar intellect to yourself. Well at
least you get it easy... I'm telling you those two can maybe swing a
fist but they don't know how to wrestle, their wrestling is
almost as ugly as their faces. You should be able to take them out
in no time, without JBL by their side they won't have a clue what to
do, never mind where they are or who they are for that matter. I
just hope JBL doesn't get rid of them, they wouldn't be able to fend
for themselves in the big bad world. Anyway once I'm done with
Benjamin and Haas and once you're done with the Bashams we can
really work as a team and take out MNM... not that'll be easy. Then
it'll be a quick step or two up the ladder and we'll be tag-team
champions, we'll have earned our place alongside the other great
tag-teams on this wall. "
'NATURAL
BORN THRILLER'
Mark Jindrak:
"
You make it sound so easy... Oh, and Mike, I don't think our photo
is up on the wall. "
Mike Sanders then pauses
glancing again down the line of pictures.
'ABOVE
AVERAGE' Mike
Sanders:
" Hmm... you know you're right, our own pictures are missing from
this collection, just an oversight... I'm sure. Although, I suppose
it is true that we've not actually teamed together too many times
but we've certainly worked together plenty of times so that may
account for the oversight. However, it won't be long until people
mention Mike Sanders and Mark Jindrak in the same breath as the Road
Warriors or The Rock n' Roll Express, 'cause Steel Punishment will
undoubtedly see the start of a long tag-team titles reign for the
Natural Born Thrillers. You see people will remember Steel
Punishment not for when RVD battled Randy Orton or for Cage Chaos,
but for when the Natural Born Thrillers won the tag-team titles.
It's going to be a great night for us Jindrak but Shelton Benjamin
and Charlie Haas, the Bashams and MNM are going to be ...

'ABOVE

Sanders:
" And you know what that means... Haha. "
