The scene opens in with footage from the end of XWF's returning Fight Night show, the fans are on their feet applauding and cheering as Raven and Chris Benoit leave the ring following their main event match. The fans then begin to slowly clear the arena, leaving their seats and beginning to jostle down the aisles. The camera then cuts to one man who remains in his ringside seat, simply standing and leaning on the ringside barrier. The camera cuts to a close shot revealing the man as Mike Sanders, a newcomer to the XWF. Sanders sighs as he looks round at the fans leaving the arena and then turns to the camera. [ Mike Sanders ] " What a show! What a return from the XWF! That's what I heard from the morons beside me. You see, not only did I have to put up with having a sweaty, four hundred pound fat guy to my right and an annoying high pitched kid to my left but I had to listen to them raving about the return of the XWF, never mind putting up with them shrieking at the sight of John Cena. They were really loving every minute of every match, sitting on the edge of their seats to watch every botched bodyslam and every weak punch... somehow, they were actually enjoying the pathetic excuse for a wrestling show. Personally, I didn't see anything even remotely entertaining about the show... all I saw was below average matches and below average wrestlers. Now given how much I'd heard about the grand history of the XWF I had expected a little bit more, but quite simply the show was a let down. Maybe the XWF just isn't all that it's cracked up to be. " Mike Sanders moves away from his ringside seat turning and seeing only a handful of fans still making there way out of the arena. Sanders begins to stroll down the aisles talking to the camera as he goes. [ Mike Sanders ] " On the basis of that show the XWF has some problems... but you only need to take one look at the roster to work that out. It just isn't a recipe for success to have no talent nobodies like Matt Morgan and no personality bores like Chris Benoit on the roster. If the XWF wants to make it big once again they'll have to understand that they need an above average superstar to take them to the top. Now luckily for the XWF, they have such a superstar right in front of them... myself, Mike Sanders. I quite clearly stand out from the dull and the talentless... or the intense and the underachievers as they like to think of themselves. You see I've got more charisma and more ability in my little pinkie than the rest of the XWF has in their entire bodies... I'm exactly the sort of man who can lead the new XWF to glory. So there isn't too much need to worry, I can offer all that's needed to solve the XWF's problems... I'll be more than happy to get rid of the below average guys who are bringing this promotion down and I assure every wrestling fan out there that I can pull the XWF up to my own above average standards. " Sanders stops talking as he reaches a door to the side of the main exit marked 'Restricted Access: XWF Personnel Only'. Sanders pushes through the door and steps past a few tables of technical equipment and begins to speak once more as he passes through the technical area. [ Mike Sanders ] " I really don't think it'll take me too long to make an impact here... I'm sure the XWF management will recognise my talents and it won't be long before I'm getting handed main event matches one night and title shots the next. After all the quicker I get to the top of the card and the quicker I get major TV time then the quicker wrestling fans across the world will be tuning into the XWF. I mean who do people want to watch, a technical bore like Benoit or a charismatic, above average superstar like Mike Sanders. The choice is clear... 'cause I can assure Vinnie Mac, Ken Kennedy and the rest of the XWF management that once I take my place on XWF television ratings will go through the roof, ticket's will sell out in minutes and most importantly the money will come rolling in. " Suddenly, as Sanders steps into a backstage corridor, Mark Jindrak springs out in front of Sanders with a grin on his face and hugs Sanders before stepping back. Sanders rolls his eyes as Jindrak greets him. [ Mark Jindrak ] " We made it Mike... the XWF! " [ Mike Sanders ] " Firstly, there's no we... I'm the guy on the roster and secondly, there's not much to get excited about. I mean take a look around this place... it doesn't match up to the stories and all that I've heard. " [ Mark Jindrak ] " Oh well just compared to where you've been recently in Georgia Championship Wrestling, Big Time Wrestling, Glory Wrestling and.... " [ Mike Sanders ] " Alright, Alright... I get your point. I don't need any reminders of some of the below average places I've been but a guy's got to make a living. I knew I'd get a big offer sooner or later... only this big offer doesn't look like it'll live up to my expectations. " [ Mark Jindrak ] " Well it can be tough to live up to your expectations Mike. " [ Mike Sanders ] " Hey, there's nothing wrong with having high expectations. I expect the same from myself as I do from everyone and everything else... just like how I expect to roll through the World Heavyweight Title tournament, starting next week at the second Thursday night's Fight Night. " [ Mark Jindrak ] " Hmm... well you see there's a little problem about next week and the World Heavyweight Title tournament... you're not actually booked in the tournament. " [ Mike Sanders ] " What! You're joking with me, right? " [ Mark Jindrak ] " Sorry but it's no joke... you're down for a singles match with Bobby Lashley instead. " [ Mike Sanders ] " Haha... that can't be true Jindrak, you must of read the card wrong. I mean as if they'd leave me out of the title tournament and put my up against some kid instead. " [ Mark Jindrak ] " Read it for yourself it's right down the hall. " Sanders doesn't seem to believe Jindrak as he cockily struts down the corridor to a notice board on which the next week's Fight Night card is posted. Mike smirks as he goes to look at the card but quickly steps back with a look of shock on his face, he shakes his head and then takes another look. Mike's expression turns from shock to anger as he smacks his fist against the notice board. [ Mike Sanders ] " I want to know who's damn idea it was to leave me out of the World Heavyweight Title tournament... I don't care who it was Vinnie Mac, Ken Kennedy, whoever... it must be some sort of practical joke 'cause you don't just put an above average superstar in a lower card match with some below average kid like Bobby Lashley. I mean somebody has got some serious explaining to do... especially when I see pathetic men like Abyss, Matt Morgan and Johnny Nitro all getting their shot instead of me. I'm not just another name on the roster, I'm not just here to make up the numbers... I'm Above Average Mike Sanders and I deserve some above average treatment. If the XWF wants to keep a hold of such a huge talent as myself then they'd better make a few alterations to this card. I mean it's one thing to leave out of the title tournament, that's a slap in the face itself, but then to put me up against Lashley is just like turning around and spitting in my face too. If they really want to put me in the ring with Lashley then that's fine, but they'll have a squash match on there hands. It'll only take me a minute or two to give Lashley a good old fashioned wrestling lesson... but I'll keep it simple 'cause the kid doesn't look like he could take too much into that thick skull of his. It won't be pretty to watch but it might be a lesson for the XWF management, they might realise exactly what I'm capable of and exactly where I belong. " Mark Jindrak looks on as Sanders continues to vent his anger, grabbing the card off the notice board, scrunching it up and dropping it to the ground. He then turns back to the camera to speak once more. [ Mike Sanders ] " Now if things stay as they are I suppose I've got a comfortable night ahead next week. You see there's plenty of reasons why I know I'll make light work of Bobby Lashley... it could be because I myself am so supremely talented, it could because I've got the experience or it could be because poor Bobby is actually listening to that old fool Teddy Long. Obviously, they're all valid reasons but most importantly he's just another one of those All-American, amateur turned pro rookie's looking to make it big and nine times out of ten those kid's are failures when it comes to the real world of wrestling. I've seen them come and go time and time again, they've got the steroid enhanced physique and they've got the size but it just isn't enough. Bobby might well have been great when he was lying on the ground with his head in between another guy's legs and his hands on his ass... supposedly trying to pin the other guy's shoulders to the mat. But, in the big bad world of pro wrestling that's not how things work... you might be able to get around for a while just playing off that body of yours, but I think it's time everyone found out that Bobby Lashley is just another glorified amateur. This time he's an amateur that isn't going anywhere... he's not getting his big break, he's just going back to where he belong... rolling around on the ground with a couple male friends of his. " Sanders moves away from the notice board and walks back over to Jindrak with a slight smirk on his face. He then turns to the camera once more. [ Mike Sanders ] " I'm going to go out next week and make sure that the XWF management sees the error of their ways and then make it truly impossible for them to even think about putting me in another pointless match with a below average nobody. I'll make sure that everybody in the XWF knows exactly what I mean when I say I'm above average... unfortunately for Bobby Lashley he's the guy who I'm going to prove myself against, he's the guy who's stepping in the ring with me and he's the guy who's going to be...
[ Mike Sanders ] " And you know what that means, Haha. " The camera pictures then fades out as the XWF logo flashes up before going to a advert for XWF's first pay-per-view Stars and Stripes. |
